At the eve of the sculpture biennale SINCE studio and Louis Vuitton group are exhibiting a selection of the designers’ sculptures in their Bulgari flagship store

(PRESS RELEASE) GENEVA, 15-Jun-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — After the success of its first edition in summer 2018, the new Geneva Sculpture Garden biennale will be held for the second time this summer in the heart of the city. The two designers have teamed up with the luxury brand house to exhibit a curated selection of sculptures thus bringing an even more contemporary touch to the avant-garde jewels. Notable works such as the award winning “bubble bucket” or the “liaison” will be on display amongst other pieces at the Bulgari boutique. The Biennale presents around thirty artists’ projects, including many pieces created expressly for the exhibition. For its second edition, the Biennale clears new territories. It honors creativity, young artists and hybrid works created by artists and designers.

The public can find Pierre and Cedric Koukjian, designers based in their studio SINCE in Geneva, Switzerland on lakeshore. They are a duo of postmodern industrial creators working with talented European craftsmanship. At the core of their creativity is a constant research for new shapes and materials.

Pierre Koukjian is a conceptual artist & designer. Working across a wide range of media, and common daily subjects, Pierre transforms well-known materials and stories into artistic phenomena. His works are known for their strong character, primitive and yet avant-garde with often provocative symbolic resonance. Transforming materials, such as hammered steel, titanium, industrial foam, brass, neon, glass and giving them new use and meaning. Born in Beirut in 1962, Pierre was a teen with a passion for drawing, when the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war forced him to leave his homeland in the late seventies.

Cedric Koukjian is a Geneva based experimental industrial designer concentrating on sculptural works across multiple mediums and materials. From miniature carvings and metalwork to large objects. He now consolidates his creative work on the concept of the “Link”. A research on the idea of the bond expressed in multiple ways. He believes it is a constant exercise in exploration to materialize this ambiguous notion into a creation that can simplify its interpretation.

Bubble Bucket by Pierre Koukjian is an award-winning resin ice bucket. This magnificent piece of art was inspired by the overflowing bubbles that come out of a fizzy glass of champagne. The bucket itself has the bubbles coming out from the top.

The trio of Links, “Liaisons” by Cedric Koukjian are resin sculptures currently on display at Bulgari flagship store in Geneva. The sculptures are part of a sculptural study on the concept of the bond. It is an exploration in how unity is primordial to the advancement of humanity. Various versions of these sculptures are made from resin or marble. “Liaison” is the three-meter-tall version. This version is made of hand-hammered, mirror polished stainless steel sculpted into three interconnected chains and it is on exhibition at the Cologny-Vandoeuvres roundabout since the 14th of January 2020.
