Persistent Systems’ Wave Relay® becomes preferred solution for Voith’s MANET

MANET radio technology will improve communications conditions in challenging environments

HEIDENHEIM/ YOKR, PA, 12-Apr-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Voith Digital Solutions, a subsidiary of Voith that delivers world-class products and services in IT, automation, software and sensor technology, today announced a long-term agreement to partner with Persistent Systems, LLC (“Persistent”) to offer their radio technology to all of Voith’s industrial environments.

Persistent’s Wave Relay® is the preferred solution for Voith’s MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc Network) needs, connecting the Internet of Things (IoT) with reliable communications in very complex environments. This system significantly increases the digital capabilities of the solutions offered by Voith by creating better communication ranges at industrial facilities and greatly improving Voith’s IoT/Industry 4.0 mobile radio networking solutions.

Industrial facilities present unique challenges to wireless communication systems, making it difficult to deliver advanced IoT Solutions, Big Data Analytics, Remote Video Diagnostics, and other cost saving services. This radio system will establish a high-speed wireless network with no need for an existing fixed network infrastructure as it utilizes MIMO technology and advanced mobile routing to thrive in complex industrial environments, resulting in a robust system that can be rapidly deployed while delivering high Ethernet data rates. This integration of advanced wireless technology into Voith’s digital solutions enables Voith’s cutting edge technology to be rapidly deployed and to proliferate, paving the road to the next industrial revolution.

Voith’s solutions equipped with Wave Relay® provide:

  • Real-time HD engineering Video Teleconference support at machine level
  • Augmented Reality experience throughout industrial complexes where wireless traditionally has failed.
  • IoT capabilities for traditionally mechanical sensors and systems, bringing a new dimension to efficiency and profitability.

“For 150 years, Voith’s technologies have been inspiring customers, business partners and employees worldwide,” said Jon Blankenship, Voith’s Global Director, Emerging Technologies and IoT. “We are excited about offering the MANET products so all Voith industries can significantly increase the speed and efficiency of Voith’s solutions in challenging environments.”

Dr. Herbert Rubens, Persistent’s CEO, offered a similar perspective.

“Our partnership with Voith represents a continued expansion of MANET capabilities into the IoT marketplace with field hardened advanced technology,” Rubens said.
