LONDON, 23-Mar-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — Pearson FT Publishing books, The Leader’s Guide to Presenting by Tom Bird and Jeremy Cassell and Futureproof by Caleb Storkey and Minter Dial were commended by judges at The Business Book Awards 2018 on Friday evening for blazing a trail in their awarding categories of ‘Self Development’ and ‘Embracing Change’ respectively. Each book fought off tough competition with a total of 20 books entered for the Embracing Change category and 37 for the Self Development category. The winning books were judged on their merits for both content and production quality.

The Business Book Awards, judged by a panel of business experts, publishers and eminent authors, were established to celebrate the work of authors who have shared their industry or market knowledge, experience and expertise in published book form.

In its inaugural year, the awards have attracted 150 entries from a variety of publishers. Seventeen different publishers made the shortlist, with entries ranging from independent publishers such as The Authority Guides, through to household names such as Penguin Random House, Wiley and of course, Pearson.

The awards ceremony took place at the Grange City Hotel in London on Friday 16th March where the authors and publishers of this year’s best business books gathered to celebrate the first Business Book Awards.

Lucy McCarraher, Founder of The Business Book Awards, said:

“We felt it was time that the wide range of business authors were celebrated for the knowledge and expertise they make available through their books. Some of them make an impact in a highly niche market; others present a vision that changes the way we all work or live.”

Eloise Cook, Publisher for Pearson Business & FT Publishing, also commented:

“We were absolutely delighted to have five books shortlisted at the awards, so to celebrate two wins on the night was a triumph for the team. Our publishing is all about helping people to improve their lives through learning so we’re thrilled that the judges agree.”
