Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer Powers Next Generation of Swisscom Banking Services

(IN BRIEF) Swisscom is modernising its Finnova-based banking infrastructure with Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, becoming the first operator in Switzerland to deploy the technology. The platform will run entirely from Swisscom’s Swiss data centres, combining cloud capabilities with local data residency while improving scalability, performance, availability and security for banking applications. Swisscom has already migrated its securities data management platform, based on the Finnova core banking system used by more than 40 Swiss banks. The new environment consolidates existing Oracle database infrastructure, enables flexible allocation of computing resources and licences, and uses technologies including Oracle RAC and Data Guard to strengthen high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity.

(PRESS RELEASE) BERN, 2-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Swisscom is modernising the infrastructure supporting its Finnova-based banking platforms with Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, becoming the first operator in Switzerland to deploy the technology.

The new infrastructure combines cloud technology with local data residency and will be operated entirely from Swisscom data centres in Switzerland.

Swisscom said the platform is designed to support the continued development of Finnova-based applications while addressing growing requirements for scalability, performance, availability and security across the Swiss banking sector.

The company’s securities data management platform, which is based on the Finnova core banking system used by more than 40 Swiss banks, has already been migrated to the new environment.

Tonio Di Domenico, Head of Banking Customers at Swisscom, said Exadata Cloud@Customer provides the technical foundation needed to meet increasingly demanding requirements from financial institutions.

He said the infrastructure combines modern technology with data storage in Switzerland, while strengthening Swisscom’s offering for Finnova customers and creating a scalable operating platform for the next generation of banking services.

Consolidated infrastructure designed to improve efficiency

The new platform consolidates Swisscom’s existing Oracle database environments, simplifying their operation and allowing resources to be provisioned and scaled more flexibly.

Swisscom said consolidation will streamline operations and support more efficient use of infrastructure resources.

The architecture has been optimised specifically for Oracle databases, helping reduce operational complexity while supporting the continued development of services based on the Finnova banking platform.

Compute resources and associated licence costs can also be more closely aligned with actual capacity requirements, with allocations adjustable dynamically or manually when needed.

High availability and resilience for banking applications

The platform incorporates technologies including Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard to support a high-availability architecture.

These capabilities are designed to strengthen disaster recovery and business continuity while improving resilience for business-critical banking applications.

Swisscom said the architecture will help minimise service interruptions and support the high availability requirements expected within the financial sector.

The entire Exadata Cloud@Customer environment will remain operated from Swisscom’s own data centres in Switzerland, maintaining local control over data residency while providing cloud-based infrastructure capabilities.
