Oberthur Technologies announces that its subscription management solution for Internet-of-Things (IoT) markets is fully compliant with the GSMA Embedded SIM Specification

PARIS, 1-12-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Oberthur Technologies (OT), a world leader in digital security solutions for the mobility space, today announced that its subscription management solution for Internet-of-Things (IoT) markets, composed of M-Connect platform and DakOTa embedded SIM, is fully compliant with the GSMA Embedded SIM Specification, allowing the “over-the-air” provisioning and management of subscriptions for IoT devices. OT products and platforms implement the latest industry specifications ensuring that its customers benefit from future-proofed solutions that are fully interoperable with other industry compliant offerings.

The Internet of Things transforms a large variety of businesses from industrial automation, transport and logistics, energy, security, healthcare, automotive, retail commerce and public sectors to consumer electronics. Gartner says the Internet of Things will grow to 26 Billion units installed in 2020. In order to help mobile operators tackle this increasing connectivity demand and the specificities of IoT markets, OT has designed an end-to-end solution to securely and remotely change subscriptions in connected objects. This solution has the ability to integrate with all the existing IoT/M2M platforms of mobile operators. For Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), OT’s solution reduces logistics and distribution costs, and enables users to connect easily to the local networks of partner operators.

“As a key contributor to the GSMA Embedded SIM program, OT is delighted to obtain the GSMA compliance for its subscription management solution,” said Cédric Collomb, Managing Director of the Telecom Business Unit at OT. “Interoperability and open platforms are key to building long term and trusted relationships between partners of IoT ecosystems. We believe at OT that we have one of the most advanced solutions for the IoT market, which will unlock a huge business opportunity. We are ready to work closely with both mobile operators and OEMs”.

“The GSMA’s vision is to unite all stakeholders behind a single, common and global specification that will become the de facto industry standard and help accelerate the growing M2M market. We are delighted that Oberthur Technologies is offering solutions compliant with the GSMA Embedded SIM Specification to its customers,” said Alex Sinclair, Chief Technology Officer, GSMA.
