(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 15-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — NIVEA today launches “We are not alone in feeling alone,” a global awareness campaign confronting the stigma of loneliness and celebrating the restorative power of human connection. Central to this effort is a poignant short film—“We are not alone”—which stars a humanoid alien figure to illustrate how isolation can pervade even the busiest, most vibrant settings. Across diverse scenes in South Africa, Japan, and beyond—from classrooms to crowded buses—the film shows loneliness as an invisible burden. Yet when someone reaches out, the alien transforms into a human, underscoring how empathy can restore belonging.

Developed in collaboration with individuals who have experienced social isolation, produced by Tempomedia Filmproduction with Chemistry Postproduction’s VFX, and directed by Alex Feil under Publicis One Touch’s creative lead, the film anchors NIVEA CONNECT’s mission. This multi-year programme, launched in September 2024, pairs the campaign with educational resources and a new global study revealing that one in five people often feel lonely and over half have experienced isolation. Conducted in 13 countries with over 30,000 respondents, the research highlights barriers such as shame and fear of burdening others—and shows that those with strong emotional bonds report markedly higher well-being.
