New Toyota-Uber Partnership Supports Hybrid and Battery-Electric Mobility for European Ride-Hailing

(IN BRIEF) Toyota Motor Europe and Uber have launched a partnership to make electrified vehicles more accessible for Uber drivers and fleet partners across Europe. The programme will begin rolling out in July across 10 European countries, with phased expansion planned across the rest of the region. The partnership will give Uber drivers and fleets preferential access to new and approved used Toyota and Lexus vehicles, including hybrid and battery-electric models. It will also provide flexible financing and leasing through Toyota Financial Services, smart usage-based insurance through Toyota Insurance Services, and access to approved used vehicles through KINTO Europe. The initiative is designed to lower barriers to electrified mobility, support drivers’ operating needs and help accelerate the shift toward lower-emission ride-hailing fleets in European cities.

(PRESS RELEASE) BRUSSELS, 20-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Toyota Motor Europe and Uber have announced a partnership designed to make low- and zero-emission vehicles more accessible for Uber drivers and fleet partners across Europe.

The collaboration builds on Toyota’s strong popularity among Uber drivers and fleet operators in the region and aims to reduce barriers to electrified mobility for professional drivers.

The partnership will offer Uber drivers and fleet partners preferential access to new and approved used Toyota and Lexus vehicles, alongside flexible financing and leasing options and smart usage-based insurance solutions.

The programme will begin rolling out in July across 10 European countries, with a phased expansion planned across the rest of Europe.

Toyota and Uber said the initiative is intended to support hundreds of thousands of active individual drivers and fleet partners across major European markets.

Recognising that operating needs, vehicle costs and charging infrastructure vary across the region, the partnership is built around Toyota’s multi-pathway approach. This gives drivers a choice between hybrid, battery-electric and approved used Toyota and Lexus vehicles as different entry points into electrified mobility.

Leonardo Carluccio, Vice President Sales at Toyota Motor Europe, said professional drivers need electrified vehicles that work both economically and operationally.

“Through this partnership with Uber, we are improving access to vehicles, financing and mobility services that drivers can use immediately, while supporting the gradual shift towards lower-emission fleets across European cities,” said Carluccio.

He added that the partnership reflects Toyota’s view that the transition to lower-emission mobility should be inclusive and accessible to all.

The programme brings together four Toyota entities to provide drivers with an integrated mobility proposition covering vehicles, financing, leasing and insurance.

Toyota Motor Europe, Toyota’s European sales and product organisation, will work with Uber to create a multi-pathway vehicle offer, including hybrid and battery-electric models adapted to local market and infrastructure conditions.

Toyota Financial Services will offer flexible financing and leasing options to help drivers access Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Toyota Insurance Services will provide smart-connected insurance capabilities designed for the changing needs of professional mobility drivers.

KINTO Europe, Toyota’s European mobility services brand, will focus on expanding access to approved used vehicles, giving drivers a lower-cost entry point into electrified mobility.

Raoul Philipse, Senior Director Central Operations at Uber, said the partnership with Toyota provides an integrated solution covering vehicle ownership, financing and maintenance.

“By lowering ownership obstacles, we are accelerating electrification while supporting drivers’ livelihoods in a changing world,” said Philipse.

The partnership comes as European cities and the automotive industry continue efforts to reduce emissions, while ride-hailing drivers face rising operating costs and evolving regulatory requirements.

Toyota and Uber said the collaboration is intended to support a practical, scalable and flexible transition toward lower-emission ride-hailing fleets across Europe.
