Networked visualization systems: Barco introduces new version of its TransForm N system

Kortrijk, Belgium, 10-2-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Barco, a pioneer in networked visualization systems, introduces a new version of its TransForm N system. The highlight of version 2.6 is the new, high-performance NGS-D200 video-to-data (V2D) encoder/decoder, which provides the best possible content-independent streaming available. The NGS-D200 is capable of streaming graphics of up to 4 megapixels across networks. To optimize performance, it also automatically provides the best image possible for the available bandwidth to each individual endpoint.

Barco’s TransForm N networked visualization system is an extremely powerful information distribution system. Unlimited in capacity, TransForm N can distribute content from an infinite number of sources to an infinite number of displays. Simply connect the source (road camera, sensor, computer, etc.) to the TransForm N encoder to enter the video, images or data into the secure IP-based system. The standard internet infrastructure then transports this information wherever you want, all over the world. At the destination, a decoder makes sure the information is ready for use on any display, while service nodes can be added to the network for additional processing. And it’s just as simple as it sounds.

Expanding TransForm N’s effectiveness
Adding the NGS-D200 to TransForm N expands the power and effectiveness of Barco’s networked visualization system dramatically. This third generation video-to-data encoder/decoder sets a new standard in the distribution of demanding content. Capturing and streaming video and graphics, with audio, in the highest quality across networks – and featuring a dual link DVI-I capable of streaming video and graphics of up to 4 million pixels at full frame rate (60 fps) – the NGS-D200 is truly content-independent and effective in any situation.

A perfect fit for your application
The codec (supporting 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 sampling) enables pixel-accurate content replication and features adaptive frame rate capabilities: in other words, you can selectively drop frames to maintain optimal image quality and robustness, even in cases of restricted bandwidth.

The NGS-D200 is also designed to capture and stream smooth pixel-perfect graphics as well as natural video. Acting as both encoder and decoder, the NGS-D200 can switch between sending and receiving in real-time using keyboard and mouse control. This means that you can create a seamless environment for application sharing to facilitate communication and cohesion among global teams. The NGS-D200 is available in Lite, Pro, and 3D Pro versions, varying in resolution and 3D support. As the next step, Barco will soon release NGS-D200 compatibility with TransForm C, its innovative controller and collaboration management system. Of course, the NGS-D200 is also available as a stand-alone codec.

A reliable solution for content distribution
“By introducing visually lossless encoding/decoding, we are again setting a new standard in image quality for networked visualization systems,” says Dirk Hendrickx, Vice President Strategic Marketing at BARCO. “Control rooms can benefit from razor-sharp images to monitor every slightest detail, while the low latency point-to-multipoint streaming is ideal for application sharing. The versatile NGS-D200 will become a stronghold in our offering, and – thanks to its failover protection and end-to-end synchronization – it guarantees worry-free performance for years on end.”

Discover the NGS-D200 – and more of Barco’s innovations – at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) tradeshow in Amsterdam, 4-6 February 2014. You will find Barco in Hall 11, booths #F78 and #H75.
