Nettimökki by Alma Media Becomes Finland’s Most Comprehensive Cottage Rental Service

Nettimökki by Alma Media Becomes Finland’s Most Comprehensive Cottage Rental Service

(IN BRIEF) Alma Media introduces an enhanced version of Nettimökki, its cottage rental platform, to meet the growing demand for domestic travel. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in Finnish cottage tourism, with many families opting for cottage rentals instead of international vacations. Nettimökki aims to become the most comprehensive service in the market, offering 7,000 cottages for rent, surpassing other rental marketplaces. The revamp incorporates user feedback and introduces new tools for smoother rental operations. As part of the upgrade, Nettimökki merges with Gofinland and Nettivuokraus, combining their strengths into a single, improved platform. Nettimökki, operated by Alma Media since 2004, has established itself as Finland’s leading cottage rental service, known for its reliability and quality customer service.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 29-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Alma Media (HEL: ALMA), a Finnish media and digital service business company, announces that Nettimökki has undergone a comprehensive revamp to solidify its position as the leading service in the market.

The COVID-19 pandemic has witnessed a significant surge in domestic cottage tourism, with renting cottages becoming a preferred choice for many travelers. Although international operators have entered the Finnish market, their offerings remain limited, providing only a small number of cottages.

“AirBnB, an international platform giant, has become almost synonymous with the temporary rental of dwellings, but it is estimated that they still only offer fewer than 1,000 cottages,” says Linda Tverin, Business Manager of Nettimökki, a part of Alma Media.

Leading the Way as a Finnish Cottage Rental Operator

Domestic cottage tourism experienced remarkable growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Families increasingly turned to cottage rentals as an alternative to vacations in sunny destinations or trips to the Alps, resulting in a 21% increase in overnight stays at rental cottages (2019 vs. 2022, according to Nettimökki statistics). Simultaneously, the principles of ecological values and the sharing economy have gained prominence, with more individuals opting for peer-to-peer cottage rentals.

Nettimökki is poised to capture an even larger share of the Finnish cottage rental market by offering the most comprehensive service available. With 7,000 cottages now available for rent, Nettimökki surpasses other Finnish rental cottage marketplaces and brokerage websites, as reported by Statistics Finland in December 2022.

As a reliable and accessible Finnish operator, Nettimökki prioritizes excellent customer service by providing support through both electronic channels and phone assistance.

“Nettimökki is specialised in renting holiday homes, so the service takes into account the related special features, such as renting hottubs or rowing boats as an additional service,” says Tverin.

Enhanced Efficiency and Streamlined Rental Operations

Nettimökki has undergone a transformative revamp, resulting in an even more user-friendly platform. Built upon valuable user feedback, the enhancements aim to facilitate increasingly efficient and seamless rental operations. The introduction of new tools, such as a cottage pricing feature, further improves the user experience.

“Our goal is to produce the highest-quality rentals for our lessors. We want to be the primary place where Finns look for domestic rental cottages,” Tverin says.

As part of the revamp, Nettimökki has merged with Gofinland and Nettivuokraus, integrating the strengths of each service into a unified and superior offering. Consequently, Gofinland and Nettivuokraus will no longer operate in their current forms.

“By combining the services, Nettimökki will have the most comprehensive selection of rental cottages in Finland for all seasons,” Tverin goes on to say.

The revamped Nettimökki was released to users on 22 May 2023.

Alma Media’s Nettimökki has been serving Finnish cottage renters since 2004, earning a reputation as a reliable platform providing exceptional service. For years, Nettimökki has held the position of Finland’s leading cottage rental service, occasionally attracting over 100,000 visitors per week.
