(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 16-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — In a significant step towards sustainability, Neste has partnered with Verne, a leading provider of sustainable data center solutions in Finland, to power Verne’s backup generators with Neste MY Renewable Diesel™. The renewable fuel will be used at Verne’s data centers in Helsinki, Pori, and Tampere, helping the company transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. This move will reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from Verne’s backup generators by up to 90% over the life cycle of the fuel compared to fossil diesel.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel, made from 100% renewable raw materials like animal fats and used cooking oil, provides an eco-friendly alternative to conventional diesel. Its chemical similarity to fossil diesel allows Verne to seamlessly switch without the need for modifications to their existing generator systems. The renewable diesel is also well-suited for Finland’s harsh winters, with the ability to be stored in temperatures as low as -32°C and maintain its reliability during long storage periods, ensuring consistent backup power during outages.
