Neste: US EPA’s 2020 renewable volume final rule increases requirements for biomass-based diesel from the 2019 standard by 330 million gallons for 2020

ESPOO, 03-Dec-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US published the final ruling covering renewable fuel volume requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program for 2019, and biomass-based diesel for 2020 on 30 November 2018.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel™ meets the requirements of an advanced biofuel in the biomass-based diesel category. The final ruling increases requirements for biomass-based diesel from the 2019 standard by 330 million gallons for 2020. The biomass-based diesel standard for 2019 was already set in 2017. Neste MY Renewable Diesel also competes for the additional advanced biofuel volumes for 2019 which will increase by 630 million gallons over the 2018 standard. The final ruling is available on the EPA’s website.

“We appreciate the EPA’s continued commitment to advanced biofuels. Neste MY Renewable Diesel is an ideal low-carbon fuel to meet the US renewable fuel standards, as it is fully compatible with existing fuel distribution systems. Our renewable diesel cuts greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% and enables reductions in engine-out emissions, all the while enhancing performance”, says Kaisa Hietala, Executive Vice President of Neste’s Renewable Products business area.

Many public and private fleets in California use Neste MY Renewable Diesel to meet their greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. Additionally, US refiners, blenders, and fuel distributors use Neste MY Renewable Diesel to fulfil their renewable fuel requirements.
