MVM Hungarian Electricity sponsored handball teams prevailed on the quarter-finals of both the SEHA League and the Hungarian Women’s Cup this weekend

BUDAPEST, 31-3-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — MKB-MVM Veszprém has won the Men’s Handball SEHA League, after they prevailed first over the Croatian PPD Zagreb on Friday, then over the Byelorussian Meskov Brest on Sunday in the quarter-finals held before a domestic audience. The Hungarian champion has played in the regional league comprising Eastern and Central European and Balkan teams for the first time and has immediately won the trophy. Győr Audi ETO KC, the main sponsors of which also include MVM, won the Hungarian Women’s Handball Cup on Sunday by prevailing against its greatest rival, Ferencváros.

The best Hungarian handball teams had an intensive weekend, since the quarter-finals of both the SEHA League and the Hungarian Women’s Cup were held on this last weekend. The successes in handball by the Győr and Veszprém teams may bode well for playing in the Champions League, since similarly to previous years, both teams have a chance to get into the women’s quarter-finals in Budapest, Hungary and into the men’s quarter-finals in Cologne, Germany. The teams are already on the threshold of FINAL4, since the quarter-finals are soon to begin, at which qualification is a realistic goal.

‘We congratulate the handball teams sponsored by us, we are proud of the new successes. It is not by accident that we are behind the teams, since the technical work performed in Győr and Veszprém represents world standard, and besides the will to win and cheering by fans, sponsors committed to Hungarian successes, such as the National Energy Company, are also needed. We trust that the momentum does not stop and both of our teams will get into the quarter-finals of the women’s and men’s series of the Champions League, where they can achieve further successes to their own delight and the delight of the country and the Group’, said Csilla Nagy, Acting Director of Communications of the MVM Group.

MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd. has been the naming sponsor of the MKB-MVM Veszprém Men’s Handball team and the priority main sponsor of the Győr Audi ETO Women’s Handball team since the autumn of 2013. Similarly to most large companies in the world, the MVM Group also believes that economic development is also reflected today in the development of culture, the social net, and the educational and professional culture in Hungary, as well as at the level of development of healthy lifestyles and sports culture.
