(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 11-Nov-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — MTU Aero Engines is set to highlight its wide-ranging capabilities in propulsion innovation and engine maintenance at the Dubai Airshow 2025, taking place from 17–21 November. Exhibiting at booth #830, the company will demonstrate its commitment to advancing aviation technology through pioneering projects like the Flying Fuel Cell™ (FFC) and the Hydrogen-Electric Zero Emission Propulsion System (HEROPS), alongside its globally recognized maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) expertise.

“Returning to the Dubai Airshow is always an exciting opportunity for MTU,” said Michael Schreyögg, Chief Program Officer at MTU Aero Engines. “The Middle East is a vital region for us — not only as a growing hub for innovation and sustainable aviation, but also as a market with distinct MRO requirements. Our technologies and aftermarket solutions are tailored to meet these evolving needs.”

MTU’s exhibition will feature both cutting-edge propulsion concepts and in-service military engines, including the EJ200, which powers the Eurofighter Typhoon. The company will also present a dynamic multimedia display of its comprehensive MRO portfolio, emphasizing intelligent maintenance solutions and asset management strategies designed to maximize efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

Driving the hydrogen future of flight
MTU continues to make significant progress with its Flying Fuel Cell™ (FFC) project, a technology central to its vision of sustainable flight. The design phase has been finalized, manufacturing of the demonstrator’s fuel cell stacks has begun, and the company’s proprietary eMoSys electric motor has completed successful testing. In Munich, MTU has also inaugurated its first FFC test cell, a major step toward commercialization.

In parallel, MTU leads the Clean Aviation HEROPS project (Hydrogen-Electric Zero Emission Propulsion System), launched in 2024 under the European Union’s Clean Aviation program. The initiative focuses on developing climate-neutral, hydrogen-powered electric propulsion systems for regional aircraft, with targeted entry into service around 2035. Together, these programs demonstrate MTU’s long-term commitment to hydrogen-based and hybrid-electric propulsion systems.
