Having completed 47 property deals in the last year—more than the previous three years combined—M&S has built a pipeline through FY 2028. The retailer is also assessing over 300 potential sites from Elgin to Exeter to ensure optimal placement of future stores. CEO Stuart Machin emphasized that this programme will enhance customer experience and reinforce M&S’s presence in key locations nationwide.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 2-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Marks & Spencer is dramatically accelerating its estate transformation, unveiling plans for 37 store projects—including 16 brand-new outlets, nine expansions, and 12 full renewals—during the current financial year. This surge represents over £300 million of investment in M&S’s flagship format.

Each location will feature the retailer’s modern design ethos: luminous façades, broader aisles and contemporary shelving to highlight offerings from Fresh Produce and Dine In through to Fashion, Home and Beauty. Among the new openings are two full-line M&S stores in Bath Southgate and Bristol Cabot Circus, 12 dedicated food halls, and two outlet concepts. Food halls will debut in Bell Green Sydenham, Abingdon, Cannock and Farnham, while the renewals and extensions will introduce expanded product ranges and enhanced layouts across existing sites.

Over the past 12 months, M&S has secured 47 property deals—surpassing the combined total of the previous three years—to populate its FY 2028 rollout pipeline. This summer’s openings will cater to diverse shopping occasions, from grab-and-go meals at Bristol Airport to full weekly shops in Aberdeen, plus convenient click-and-collect fashion, home and beauty counters on London’s Oxford Street.

Looking beyond this year, M&S is evaluating more than 300 potential new locations—stretching from Elgin in Scotland down to Exeter in the southwest—to ensure the right stores land in the right communities. These sites will feature market-style produce displays, in-store bakeries with barista-style coffee, and spacious, customer-friendly aisles from beauty zones to checkouts.

Stuart Machin, Chief Executive Officer of Marks & Spencer, said:
“This year marks a significant step-change in our estate strategy. We’re investing over £300 million to open, extend and refresh 37 stores nationwide, delivering the very best of M&S Food, Fashion, Home and Beauty to our 32 million customers.”
