Mercedes-Benz Trucks Begins Delivery of More Than 50 eActros 600 Electric Trucks to Amazon in Germany as Companies Accelerate Heavy-Duty Transport Electrification

Amazon to receive more than 50 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks in Germany

(IN BRIEF) Mercedes-Benz Trucks has begun delivering the German portion of Amazon’s largest-ever electric heavy-duty truck order, handing over the first 27 eActros 600 vehicles and planning to have more than 50 operating within Amazon’s German transportation network by the end of 2026. The deployment forms part of a contract signed in early 2025 for more than 200 eActros 600 trucks, with most of the fleet being deployed in the United Kingdom and the vehicles primarily serving middle-mile routes between fulfilment centres and urban areas. Amazon is investing more than €1 billion in electrifying and decarbonising its European transportation network, including over €400 million in Germany, and is installing hundreds of heavy-duty charging points. Manufactured in Wörth am Rhein, the eActros 600 uses three LFP battery packs with 621 kWh total installed capacity, offers around 500 kilometres of standard long-haul range and up to 560 kilometres in its most economical configuration, and can exceed 1,000 kilometres per day with intermediate charging. Mercedes-Benz Trucks has designed the model for up to 1.2 million kilometres over ten years, positioning it as a battery-electric alternative for demanding long-haul freight operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LEINFELDEN-ECHTERDINGEN/ WÖRTH AM RHEIN, 6-Mar-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Mercedes-Benz Trucks has officially handed over the first 27 battery-electric eActros 600 trucks to Amazon, beginning the German rollout of Amazon’s largest-ever order of electric heavy-duty trucks.

By the end of 2026, more than 50 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks are expected to be operating on German roads within Amazon’s transportation network, marking another significant step in the electrification and decarbonisation of the company’s European logistics operations.

Amazon’s largest electric truck order enters German deployment phase

Amazon and Mercedes-Benz Trucks signed an agreement in early 2025 covering more than 200 battery-electric eActros 600 trucks, representing Amazon’s largest electric truck order to date.

The majority of the vehicles are being deployed in the United Kingdom, where deliveries began in late 2025, while the latest handover marks the expansion of the programme into Germany.

The trucks will primarily operate on middle-mile routes, transporting goods between Amazon fulfilment centres and urban areas.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks said the eActros 600’s combination of high battery capacity and an efficient electric drive axle developed in-house makes the model particularly suitable for these longer-distance logistics applications.

German officials highlight growing role of battery-electric heavy-duty transport

Achim Schwickert, Minister of the Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate, said the increasing deployment of electric trucks manufactured in Wörth demonstrates that battery-electric technology is becoming part of everyday heavy-duty transport operations rather than remaining a future concept.

He also highlighted the role of Rhineland-Palatinate in supporting the transformation of road freight transport.

Michael Ebling, Rhineland-Palatinate’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Tourism, Energy and Climate Protection, said demand for the eActros 600 demonstrates how industrial innovation, lower-emission transportation and economic development can reinforce one another.

The eActros 600 is manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz Trucks facility in Wörth am Rhein.

Christian Hirte, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, said the deployment demonstrates the increasing availability of high-performance electric trucks from Germany’s automotive industry and the growing willingness of companies to adopt them for commercial fleet operations.

He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s intention to continue supporting development of a nationwide charging network suitable for commercial and private mobility requirements.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks sees partnership as major electrification milestone

Stina Fagerman, President Mercedes-Benz Trucks Customer Region Europe, said Amazon’s decision to deploy the eActros 600 reflects confidence in the technology and demonstrates how electrification is becoming increasingly established within heavy-duty transport.

She said partnerships of this scale are important for accelerating the wider transformation of the transport industry.

Andreas Marschner, Vice President of Worldwide Sustainable Operations at Amazon, described the vehicle handover as an important milestone in the electrification of Amazon’s transportation network.

Amazon has already deployed electric vehicles extensively in last-mile parcel delivery, and Marschner said the eActros 600 will now enable the company to extend lower-emission transportation to longer routes between fulfilment centres and urban areas.

Amazon investing more than €1 billion in European transport electrification

To integrate the new heavy-duty electric vehicles into its operations, Amazon is installing hundreds of truck charging points at European locations.

Under specified charging conditions, the infrastructure is designed to charge an eActros 600 from 10% to 80% in approximately 70 minutes using 400 kW charging power.

Amazon is investing more than €1 billion in the continued electrification and decarbonisation of its European transportation network, including more than €400 million dedicated to Germany.

The deployment of the eActros 600 forms part of this wider investment programme.

eActros 600 offers more than 600 kWh of battery capacity

Mercedes-Benz Trucks began series production of the eActros 600 at its Wörth plant at the end of 2024, and the model has since entered daily operation in a growing number of European and international markets.

The truck is equipped with three battery packs, each rated at 207 kWh, providing a total installed capacity of 621 kWh.

The batteries use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology, selected for its long service life and high proportion of usable installed capacity. More than 95% of the installed battery capacity can be utilised, according to Mercedes-Benz Trucks.

Up to 560 kilometres of range in long-haul configuration

The eActros 600 is designed to deliver around 500 kilometres of range without intermediate charging under realistic long-haul operating conditions with a gross combination mass of 40 tonnes.

In its most economical configuration, Mercedes-Benz Trucks says the model can achieve up to 560 kilometres with three battery packs under comparable operating conditions.

With intermediate charging during statutory driver breaks, the company says the truck can cover well over 1,000 kilometres per day, provided suitable charging infrastructure is available.

Actual range can vary depending on factors including route, topography, weather, speed, vehicle configuration and driving style.

Designed for long-haul durability and payload requirements

Mercedes-Benz Trucks developed the eActros 600 to meet the same durability expectations as a comparable conventional heavy-duty Actros.

The vehicle is engineered for up to 1.2 million kilometres of operation over ten years, with battery state of health expected to remain above 80% after that period under the manufacturer’s assumptions.

The truck is technically designed for a gross combination mass of up to 44 tonnes. With a standard semitrailer, it offers a payload of approximately 22 tonnes in the European Union, subject to national regulations.

eActros range expands to more than 40 base-vehicle configurations

Mercedes-Benz Trucks has recently expanded the eActros portfolio with additional variants based on the eActros 600 platform.

Customers can choose between two cab designs, two or three battery packs, multiple wheelbases and new axle configurations, creating more than 40 variants of the base vehicle.

The newer configurations retain core eActros 600 technologies, including LFP batteries and the company’s dedicated electric axle.

The portfolio also includes the new Mercedes-Benz eActros Lowliner, available with either two or three battery packs and designed specifically for high-volume transport applications.

Initial versions became available for order in EU30 and additional markets from the third quarter of 2026, with series production at Wörth am Rhein scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

eActros 600 builds on extensive real-world testing

Before entering series production, the eActros 600 completed several large-scale real-world testing programmes.

These included the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024, covering approximately 15,000 kilometres through 22 countries, and the European Testing Tour Winter 2025, which covered around 6,500 kilometres across Northern Europe, with both programmes conducted at a gross combination mass of 40 tonnes.

The vehicle was also named International Truck of the Year 2025 by the International Truck of the Year organisation.
