Media accreditation for G8 summit in Lough Erne, Northern Ireland open until 6 May

Brussels, 3-5-2013 — /europawire.eu/ —  European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President José Manuel Barroso will participate in the G8 summit on 17-18 June in Lough Erne, Northern Ireland, representing the European Union.

The UK, as host of the G8 2013 summit, has started the accreditation procedure for media. Journalists can apply for media accreditation until Monday 6 May, 23.59 (Brussels time) at https://www.g8summitreg.com.

The G8 Presidency anticipates high demand. They aim to inform you by 18 May whether your accreditation process has been successful.

Accredited media are encouraged to be at the Killyhevlin media centre in Enniskillen, close to the summit venue, ahead of the leaders’ arrival. Killyhevlin media centre is scheduled to be open from 17.00 to 23.00 on Sunday 16 June, and from 05.00 on 17 June until 00.00 on 19 June.

Non-accredited journalists will have the opportunity to follow the summit in a “welcome centre” in London and possibly from a similar venue in Belfast. The G8 Presidency will provide further information on these venues in due course.

More information on the media accreditation and practical aspects for journalists can be obtained from the UK media liaison officer for the EU delegation, Ms Nicola Kelly Email: nicola.kelly@fco.gov.uk; Mobile: 0032 486 090 032.

We would be grateful if you could inform the Council or the Commission’s press services about your accreditation requests so as to facilitate the flow of relevant information to you.
