MAN Truck & Bus Electrifies IAA Transportation 2026 With New eTGX Generation, Expanded eTruck Portfolio and Integrated Charging Ecosystem

(IN BRIEF) MAN Truck & Bus is using IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover to showcase its latest commercial vehicle technologies, led by a new MAN eTGX generation offering up to 720 kilometres of range, 10% more usable battery energy and payload capacity of up to 25 tonnes. The company is displaying its complete future electric truck portfolio — eTGL, eTGM, eTGS and eTGX — spanning 12 to 50 tonnes, alongside MCS charging capable of taking batteries from 20% to 80% in around 30 minutes. MAN is also presenting its Transport Solutions ecosystem, an expanded Charge&Go network, Smart Charging Cube and its “Beyond Diesel” report, which indicates that integrated electrification strategies can deliver cost advantages of up to 13% over diesel after five years. Conventional technologies remain part of the portfolio, including the D30 PowerLion drivetrain with fuel savings of up to 5%. Additional highlights include enhanced safety systems, two near-production electric MAN TGE vehicles developed with Flux, new TGE digital services and planned investments of €700 million in MAN’s global service network.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 15-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — MAN Truck & Bus is presenting a broad range of electric and conventional commercial vehicle technologies at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, with the new generation MAN eTGX taking centre stage alongside a complete electric truck portfolio, new charging solutions, enhanced safety systems and digital services.

Under the motto “Driving. People. Partner.”, MAN is showcasing vehicles spanning 3.5 to 250 tonnes together with an ecosystem covering electromobility, charging infrastructure and energy supply. For the first time at IAA Transportation, visitors can also take part in test drives departing directly from the MAN stand in Hall 11.

The principal product highlight is the latest MAN eTGX, which introduces improved aerodynamics, stronger recuperation and a new battery generation providing 10% more usable energy. In its 4×2 tractor configuration, the vehicle can achieve a range of up to 660 kilometres, while a new 6×2 tractor unit equipped with a seventh battery extends maximum range to 720 kilometres.

Despite the additional energy capacity, MAN has kept vehicle weight low. The 4×2 eTGX has an unladen weight of 10.7 tonnes and can provide payload capacity of up to 25 tonnes with a standard trailer, bringing it close to the payload capabilities of a comparable diesel tractor unit. The redesigned vehicle also improves the driver’s direct field of vision, strengthening safety for pedestrians, cyclists and other road users, particularly in urban environments.

Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus, said the company’s IAA theme reflects its approach to transforming road transport through efficient, dependable and safe vehicles combined with close customer support. He highlighted the new eTGX as an example of practical innovation intended to make the transition to electric transport easier and said MAN and its partners plan to invest €700 million worldwide in the service network over the coming years.

MAN is also presenting its complete future electric truck range together for the first time. The MAN eTGL, eTGM, eTGS and eTGX will cover vehicle classes from 12 to 50 tonnes, addressing applications including urban distribution, municipal services, construction transport and long-distance haulage.

All four ranges use MAN’s modular battery technology developed specifically for commercial vehicles, enabling battery configurations to be adapted to individual transport tasks.

Since the end of July 2026, MAN has also been producing the first eTGX and eTGS models equipped for Megawatt Charging System technology. The MCS standard allows charging from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes, potentially fitting into a driver’s mandatory break. At IAA, MAN and charging infrastructure partner Milence are demonstrating the technology daily in Halls 14/15.

Conventional powertrains remain part of MAN’s efficiency strategy. The company’s D30 PowerLion drivetrain can reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% compared with its predecessor. MAN is also displaying a new 60-tonne truck based on the TGS 8×4, designed for demanding mining operations where high robustness and payload capacity are required.

Safety and driver assistance have also been upgraded across the truck portfolio. MAN’s EfficientCruise predictive cruise control now makes greater use of traffic infrastructure information, while the combination of FrontDetection, turning assist and emergency brake assist is designed to provide additional protection for vulnerable road users around the vehicle, including during low-speed operation.

The new eTGX also adds driver-focused features such as wireless smartphone charging, EasyControl functions on the passenger door, a high-output 230-volt socket and a mechanical night lock designed to provide additional security during rest periods.

Beyond the vehicles themselves, MAN is presenting its broader MAN Transport Solutions offering for electric fleets. This includes charging infrastructure, smart charging, energy management and developing applications such as bidirectional charging, with the objective of reducing energy costs, optimising charging schedules and improving the economics of electric fleet operation.

The company is also expanding the MAN Charge&Go Europe-wide charging network with 50 additional locations, including sites in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Portugal. MAN says the network is tested specifically for electric truck suitability.

Another IAA exhibit is the Smart Charging Cube, designed for fleet locations where the available grid connection cannot provide sufficient charging capacity. Together with MAN’s own services and external technology partners, the solution forms part of the company’s approach to reducing infrastructure barriers to commercial vehicle electrification.

MAN is additionally presenting findings from its new “Beyond Diesel” strategy report, which examines three international vehicle fleets at different stages of electrification. According to the report, operators that adopt electric trucks early can gain structural economic advantages when vehicles are combined with smart depot charging and energy solutions such as photovoltaic generation and storage.

MAN says this integrated approach can generate total cost advantages of up to 13% compared with diesel after five years.

The company is also examining further electrification opportunities in the van sector. Two near-production vehicles based on the MAN TGE have been developed with Swiss engineering partner Flux for specialised applications that require features such as higher gross vehicle weights, all-wheel drive and electric power take-offs.

Potential applications include emergency services, fire brigades and municipal fleets, which have historically faced more limited electrification options. The vehicles use a battery with a gross capacity of 119 kWh and can achieve ranges of up to 480 kilometres under WLTP. MAN is using the IAA presentation to gather customer feedback before deciding on subsequent development steps.

The MAN TGE is meanwhile marking 10 years since its world premiere in Hanover with new customisation and digital-service offerings. The MAN Individual portfolio is being expanded with the TGE Individual Lion X equipment line and an Individual Black entry-level package.

MAN has also introduced “Lifetime Connectivity”, available since September at no additional charge to customers. The offering means digital services for the MAN TGE, including online functions and map updates, are provided without an additional fee. A new MAN TGE Connect App is also intended to make everyday vehicle operation more transparent, efficient and convenient for drivers.

Through its IAA Transportation 2026 programme, MAN is positioning electrification as part of a broader transformation involving vehicles, charging infrastructure, energy management, safety technologies, digital services and customer support. The company’s strategy is intended to give fleet operators different pathways toward more efficient and lower-emission transport while maintaining the productivity and commercial viability required for day-to-day operations.
