(PRESS RELEASE) ZURICH, 7-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ABB has entered into a strategic partnership and made a minority investment in LevelTen Energy, the world’s largest marketplace for clean energy transactions, including power purchase agreements.

The partnership is intended to strengthen ABB’s ability to help industrial and commercial customers secure affordable, long-term clean energy while maintaining speed to power in an increasingly complex grid environment.

The collaboration will expand ABB’s energy and carbon advisory services by combining the company’s expertise in electrification, digital solutions and energy management with LevelTen Energy’s clean energy marketplace and transaction platform.

Financial details of ABB’s investment were not disclosed.

Headquartered in the United States, LevelTen Energy has facilitated more than 20 GW of clean energy transactions across more than 35 markets in North America and Europe.

Its platform serves a broad range of market participants, including hyperscalers, commercial and industrial companies, utilities and clean energy developers.

ABB said the partnership will enhance its end-to-end customer offering across energy procurement, electrification, optimisation and emissions reduction.

As companies face growing pressure to decarbonise their operations, access to reliable and affordable clean electricity has become one of the more complex challenges on the path to net zero.

Many businesses have already invested in on-site renewable energy generation and energy efficiency measures.

However, sourcing clean power at scale often requires long-term renewable energy agreements that can be difficult to structure and execute without specialist market expertise.

Stuart Thompson, President of the Electrification Service division at ABB, said customers are under significant pressure to reduce carbon emissions while managing energy costs and maintaining reliable, 24/7 operations.

He said ABB’s current customer solutions have been missing a straightforward way to secure long-term clean energy at the right price.

Thompson said LevelTen Energy brings this capability, enabling ABB to expand its growing energy and carbon advisory services portfolio with renewable energy procurement expertise.

He added that the partnership will help customers move from planning and implementation into ongoing optimisation and reporting.

ABB said the collaboration is particularly relevant as regulatory requirements continue to evolve.

More companies are moving beyond annual renewable energy matching toward stricter expectations around when and where clean energy is generated and consumed.

These customers increasingly depend on technologies such as battery energy storage systems, microgrids and advanced energy management solutions.

ABB said these are areas where it has extensive expertise.

LevelTen Energy’s capabilities in clean energy contracting and environmental attribute certificate trading complement ABB’s technology portfolio, helping customers build more comprehensive and verifiable decarbonisation strategies.

Thompson said the partnership is expected to accelerate growth opportunities for both companies.

ABB will gain access to LevelTen Energy’s ecosystem of clean energy developers and projects, creating new opportunities to deliver monitoring, optimisation and lifecycle services.

At the same time, LevelTen Energy is expected to benefit from ABB’s domain expertise and global customer relationships, particularly in manufacturing, industrial and commercial sectors.

ABB also highlighted its strong presence in growth markets, including Asia-Pacific, as an area of potential value for the partnership.

Bryce Smith, Chief Executive Officer of LevelTen Energy, said the strategic partnership will create new clean energy solutions and allow ABB’s global customers to access clean power, capacity and portfolio management tools more easily.

He said the two companies have an opportunity to help more customers decarbonise.

ABB said its investment in LevelTen Energy reflects its commitment to building an ecosystem of innovative partners that can help customers navigate an increasingly complex energy landscape.

Together with recent investments such as Gridcog, the company is expanding its capabilities across energy procurement, advisory services, and energy and carbon solutions.

The investment was made through ABB Electrification Ventures, the venture capital arm of ABB’s Electrification business area.

ABB said the transaction supports its broader strategy of backing companies that develop solutions improving productivity, efficiency and sustainability.

Since 2021, ABB Electrification Ventures has invested more than US $110 million in 18 start-ups.

ABB Electrification Ventures is part of ABB Ventures, the group-wide venture capital investment framework.

Since its formation in 2010, ABB Ventures has invested more than US $500 million in start-ups aligned with ABB’s electrification, automation and motion portfolio.
