Les Anderson appointed VP of cyber at BT

BT brings on board proven security expert to strengthen protection of BT and its customers

London, 6-6-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — BT today announced that Les Anderson has joined the company as its new vice president of cyber.

Les has 27 years’ experience working as a technologist and programme manager in the UK’s intelligence, security and defence community. He joins BT from GCHQ, the UK Government’s signal intelligence and security agency. Whilst there, he was instrumental in developing and delivering complex and pioneering IT security capabilities.

Prior to joining GCHQ, Les also served for 10 years at UK Ministry of Defence’s research agency in Malvern, Worcestershire. Here he developed novel IT security capabilities and managed large scale defence procurements.

Les Anderson, vice president of cyber, BT Security, said: “A steady stream of high profile hacks and headlines over the past 12 months should leave little doubt about the importance of robust cyber-defence and governance. Now, more than ever, cyber security needs to be firmly on the radar of both Governments and board-room executives. I am delighted to be joining a leading global communications company that has security at the top of its agenda. I am looking forward to joining BT and starting the next chapter of my career.”

Mark Hughes, President, BT Security, said: “We are delighted that Les is joining the BT Security team. Protecting BT and its customers is vitally important to us. Les brings with him a wealth of unique experience which will be invaluable to us. He is the right person to help us navigate through the fast moving and ever-changing security threat landscape.”
