(PRESS RELEASE) BILLUND, 18-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — To honour Singapore’s 60th birthday, the LEGO® Group has teamed up with the National Museum of Singapore to present an immersive, hyperlocal celebration of the nation’s heritage through the universal language of play. Central to this collaboration is a record‐setting LEGO mural composed of 265,743 bricks, depicting a vibrant streetscape of nostalgic shophouses reminiscent of Singapore’s bustling 1960s commerce. Officially recorded in the Singapore Book of Records, this monumental piece was unveiled on 17 July 2025 by Ms Low Yen Ling, Senior Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth and Trade and Industry, alongside Ms Nina Patricia Da Costa, General Manager for Singapore, Malaysia and APAC Travel Retail at the LEGO Group, and Ms Chung May Khuen, Director of the National Museum.

Running from 18 July to 9 August in the Stamford Gallery, the “Stories of Singapore: Building Our Heritage, Brick by Brick” showcase invites visitors to contribute the final bricks to the mural, solidifying its place in local history. The exhibition also features a large‑scale 3D LEGO model of the Hawkerman mascot, complete with iconic landmarks such as the Changi Airport Control Tower and bumboats gliding along the Singapore River.

Recognising Singapore’s passion for food, the display includes intricate LEGO recreations of beloved dishes—Hainanese chicken rice, chilli crab, and kaya butter toast with soft‑boiled eggs. Students from the Chinese Development Assistance Council have lent their creativity to colourful LEGO artworks inspired by riverside scenes. To round off the experience, guests can join a Make & Take workshop to build their own Mini LEGO Orchid, serving as a special SG60 keepsake.

Ms Low Yen Ling remarked, “Every brick added represents our collective journey—this mural embodies the unity and resilience that define Singapore.” Ágnes Molnár, Marketing Director for Singapore, Malaysia and APAC Travel Retail at the LEGO Group, added, “LEGO play connects generations and sparks imagination; we are proud to celebrate SG60 by sharing our passion for creativity with the community.”
