Lagardère Group Announces Key Appointments: Michel Sibony, Gérald-Brice Viret, and Serge Nedjar Assume Special Advisor Roles

(IN BRIEF) Lagardère Group has announced significant leadership appointments, with Michel Sibony appointed as Special Advisor to the Chairman and CEO, focusing on purchasing and performance management, while also maintaining roles in other prominent groups. Gérald-Brice Viret assumes the position of Special Advisor for Media (excluding Lagardère Radio), retaining his role as CEO of Canal+ France, overseeing Programming and Channels. Serge Nedjar has been appointed Special Advisor for News and will also continue as CEO of CNEWS. These strategic appointments are aimed at enhancing the Group’s leadership team and leveraging their expertise in various areas, including purchasing, media, and news, across the Lagardère Group’s diverse divisions and brands.

Michel Sibony, a seasoned industry professional with an extensive background in accounting and 13 years of experience in the field, has been appointed as Special Advisor to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lagardère Group. In his new role, Mr. Sibony will be responsible for overseeing purchasing management and developing synergies within the Group, including strategic partnerships. He will continue to hold his existing positions within the Bolloré, Vivendi, and Canal+ groups, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping their respective strategies and success.

Gérald-Brice Viret, a highly accomplished media executive with a master’s degree in Film, Television, and New Media from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne university, has assumed the role of Special Advisor for Media at Lagardère News. In addition to this new responsibility, Mr. Viret will continue to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Canal+ France, overseeing Programming and Channels. With a wealth of experience in journalism and media management, Mr. Viret has held key positions at prominent media groups, including Pathé, NRJ, and Lagardère, before joining the Canal+ group in 2015.

Serge Nedjar, an accomplished leader with a background in economics, has been appointed as Special Advisor for News, reporting to Gérald-Brice Viret. Mr. Nedjar will also continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer of the highly regarded French 24-hour news channel, CNEWS. His career journey began at the French daily newspaper Le Matin de Paris, and he later played pivotal roles in the launch and management of various publications and magazines. Within the Canal+ group, Mr. Nedjar has been at the helm of CNEWS since 2016, driving its growth and success.
