LafargeHolcim accelerates growth in the Ready-Mix Concrete and Aggregates segments

(PRESS RELEASE) ZUG, 4-Feb-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — The global leader in building materials and solutions LafargeHolcim adds one (1) precast and eight (8) ready-mix concrete plants as well as a sand quarry to its growing Ready-Mix Concrete and Aggregates segments. The new additions have been done through two new acquisitions announced on January and February, 2019 respectively.

The first deal was for the precast and ready-mix concrete businesses of Alfons Greten Betonwerk in Northern Germany, acquired by LafargeHolcim in January 2019. The company operates one precast and one ready-mix concrete plant in the state of Lower Saxony. Alfons Greten Betonwerk has  around 100 employees that will join LafargeHolcim.

According to LafargeHolcim, the acquisition is highly complementary to its existing portfolio and will strengthen its existing Solutions and Products segment in the region.

LafargeHolcim also strengthened its position in a dynamic and growing building materials market of the United States with the second acquisition, part of this announcement, which happened on  February 1, 2019. The company acquired is Transit Mix Concrete Co., which is a leading supplier of building materials in Colorado and subsidiary of Continental Materials Corporation.

This transaction brings Transit’s seven ready-mix concrete plants and a sand quarry to LafargeHolcim. Transit Mix has more than 180 employees, which are also going to stay with LafargeHolcim.

Transit Mix Concrete Company, based in southern Colorado, is supplier of foundational building materials, including concrete, aggregate, rebar, masonry supplies and tools. Since 1945, Transit Mix Concrete has been at the heart of dozens of civil and commercial projects across southern Colorado.
