(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKENTHAL, 12-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — The KSB Group has introduced the BOATRONIC 100 MOD, a new measuring computer designed to support compliance with Germany’s 2024 Buildings Energy Act (GEG 2024). This Act mandates that building management systems incorporate energy-efficient components to promote cost-effective and reliable operations. KSB’s latest offering provides consultants and operators with an affordable, compact solution for energy monitoring in heating, ventilation, and cooling (HVAC) systems.

By pairing with the BOA-Control IMS balancing and shut-off valve, the BOATRONIC 100 MOD enables energy monitoring without the need for additional measuring systems. Key metrics—such as flow direction, volume flow rate, supply and return temperatures, thermal output, and heat quantity—are captured directly at the valve, making it suitable for hot-water heating, air-conditioning, cooling circuits, and any application requiring flow or temperature monitoring.

The system utilizes ultrasonic transit time difference technology for accurate and quick flow measurement, eliminating the need for valve position input. With ultrasonic sensors that avoid direct fluid contact, the system remains leak-free and resistant to deposits or contamination.

Equipped with two temperature sensors, the BOATRONIC 100 MOD captures both supply and return temperatures, along with thermal output and heat quantity. Additional diagnostic functions, like automatic flow direction display, enhance system reliability. Modbus RTU and two analog interfaces facilitate integration into building management systems, making all process data accessible at the management level. Additionally, KSB’s FlowManager app simplifies commissioning and real-time monitoring.

The BOA-Control IMS valve is built to EN 558/1 standards, ensuring easy interchangeability and making it suitable for energy-efficient upgrades to existing systems. Its versatility is reflected in its range, handling nominal sizes from DN 15 to DN 350, and flow velocities up to four meters per second, supporting both heat transfer and cooling systems with water or water/glycol mixtures. This setup eliminates the need for costly equipment like magnetic-inductive flow sensors, offering a streamlined solution.

For digital planning and Building Information Modeling (BIM), optimized product data is available in popular programs and databases. An electrostatic plastic-coated EKB variant is also offered, ideal for drinking water and oil-free cooling systems.
