(PRESS RELEASE) WALLDORF, 24-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — KMD A/S, a leading Danish IT firm and subsidiary of NEC Corporation, is stepping into a new era of digital transformation by migrating its widely used KMD Opus ERP platform to SAP S/4HANA Cloud through RISE with SAP on Microsoft Azure. This strategic move aims to boost efficiency and innovation across public administration functions in Denmark.

KMD Opus, a cornerstone solution supporting thousands of public employees in managing payroll, finance, and debtors, will now benefit from the scalability, automation, and intelligence offered by SAP’s next-generation cloud ERP system. The initiative also underscores the ongoing collaboration between KMD, SAP, and Microsoft to ensure a secure, compliant, and future-proof technology stack tailored for the needs of modern public sector organizations.

“The agreements with SAP and Microsoft primarily ensure long-term stability for our Opus solution. Opus customers will benefit from the most innovative technologies and a secure and compliant data and cloud setup. This will empower us to enhance the quality of our solution and deliver even greater value in public administration,” said Jan Gaardboe Jensen, Senior Vice President at KMD.

With operations extending across Denmark and other European markets, KMD’s decision to transition Opus to SAP S/4HANA Cloud reflects a deep commitment to evolving its digital offerings. The new platform will feature a redesigned user interface with expanded AI capabilities, offering greater automation of repetitive tasks and enhanced access to actionable insights—streamlining reporting and empowering users with real-time data.

“For the past 27 years, KMD and SAP have partnered to drive digital transformation in the public sector,” noted Mikkel Stavnsbo, Managing Director of SAP Denmark. “Now, KMD’s shift to cloud services opens up exciting new opportunities, from automation to AI integration, that will help us jointly create a more efficient and data-driven society.”

The migration is expected to strengthen KMD’s position as a digital frontrunner in public IT infrastructure while aligning with SAP’s vision of creating intelligent enterprises powered by cloud innovation.
