Amsterdam, 27-3-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — On 1 June 2013, Kees van Dijkhuizen will join ABN AMRO as its new CFO, becoming a member of the ABN AMRO Managing Board on 1 May. Mr Van Dijkhuizen has been Chief Financial Officer at NIBC Bank N.V. since December 2005 and became the company’s Vice-Chairman in September 2009. Prior to his position at NIBC, Kees van Dijkhuizen worked at the Dutch Finance and Economic Affairs ministries, most recently as Treasurer-General of the Dutch Ministry of Finance. Before that, he was Director-General of the State Budget. He has a degree in economics from VU University Amsterdam.

Jan van Rutte, currently Vice-Chairman of the ABN AMRO Managing Board and Chief Financial Officer, has decided to retire on 1 June 2013. Mr Van Rutte has worked for the bank since the new ABN AMRO was created. He previously held various positions at the former Fortis and MeesPierson, most recently as Chairman of the Management Board of Fortis Bank Nederland, the bank that merged with parts of ABN AMRO in July 2010.

Hessel Lindenbergh, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, comments: “When he retires, Jan will have worked in the Dutch financial industry for more than 35 years. From his position at the former Fortis Bank Nederland, he has made a significant contribution to the creation of the new ABN AMRO, and his knowledge and expertise have been very valuable in building up the new bank.”

Gerrit Zalm, Chairman of the Managing Board, adds: “Jan has been part of the ABN AMRO management team since the new bank was established, first as a member of the Transition Team and then as Vice-Chairman of the Managing Board and CFO. He postponed retirement by a year in order to successfully complete the integration of the two banks. Jan has played a pivotal role in recent years in strengthening the bank’s financial position, for which I am very grateful.”
