Kazimierz Biskupi Project to Add 216 MW of Hybrid Renewable Capacity to ORLEN Portfolio

(IN BRIEF) ORLEN Group has completed the acquisition of a 216 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Kazimierz Biskupi, in Poland’s Greater Poland region. The project will combine a 180 MW solar PV farm with a 36 MW wind farm and is expected to generate around 315 GWh of electricity per year, enough to supply nearly 143,000 households. The project will use cable pooling, allowing the solar and wind installations to share grid connection infrastructure more efficiently. The wind farm will include nine Vestas V136 turbines, each with 4 MW capacity. Construction is planned to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with first energisation expected in early 2028 and full commercial operations due in the second quarter of that year.

(PRESS RELEASE) PŁOCK, 4-Aug-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — ORLEN Group has completed the acquisition of a 216 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Poland, strengthening its renewable energy portfolio and advancing its investment programme in low-emission power generation.

The project will combine a 180 MW solar PV farm with a 36 MW wind farm in the municipality of Kazimierz Biskupi, located in the Greater Poland region.

Once operational, the complex is expected to generate approximately 315 GWh of electricity annually.

This output would be enough to meet the electricity needs of nearly 143,000 households.

The project will use cable pooling, a model that enables solar and wind installations to share grid connection infrastructure more efficiently.

ORLEN said the hybrid model will allow the project to make better use of available grid capacity while supporting Poland’s energy transition and strengthening domestic expertise in the modern energy sector.

Ireneusz Fąfara, President of the ORLEN Management Board, said the acquisition adds a 216 MW project to ORLEN’s renewable energy portfolio.

He said combining solar and wind generation will enable more efficient use of grid connection infrastructure.

Fąfara added that the project is another tangible result of ORLEN’s investment programme and supports the development of assets that contribute to Poland’s energy transition.

He also noted that Polish companies will be involved in delivery, helping strengthen national capabilities in renewable energy.

The acquisition was carried out by ORLEN New Power, the ORLEN Group company responsible for developing and managing onshore renewable energy assets.

ORLEN New Power acquired two special-purpose vehicles from Polish developers ONDE and Neo Energy Group.

These companies hold the rights to build the 180 MW solar farm and the 36 MW wind farm.

Both ONDE and Neo Energy Group will continue to participate in the project’s delivery.

ONDE will act as general contractor, while Neo Energy Group will manage the construction process.

Energa Green Development will supervise the construction process on behalf of ORLEN Group.

The wind component of the project will consist of nine Vestas V136 turbines, each with a capacity of 4 MW.

Under the cable pooling structure, the solar and wind farms will share infrastructure, supporting more efficient use of the available grid connection capacity.

Tadeusz Zborowski, Vice President of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer at ORLEN New Power, said the Kazimierz Biskupi acquisition combines substantial scale with a high level of development readiness.

He said integrating solar and wind generation will improve grid infrastructure utilisation and enhance ORLEN Group’s ability to create value.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026.

First energisation is expected in early 2028, with full commercial operations planned for the second quarter of 2028.

Kazimierz Biskupi will become another ORLEN Group project based on a hybrid renewable energy model, following the example of the Kleczew Solar & Wind facility in the Greater Poland region.

The two projects are located approximately 8 kilometres apart.

Together, they will form one of Poland’s largest onshore renewable energy clusters, with a combined capacity of 485 MW.

ORLEN said combining solar and wind generation helps optimise use of grid connection infrastructure, reduce the impact of weather variability on power output and support more stable operation of renewable generation assets.

Concentrating generation assets in one area is also expected to create operational synergies, particularly in asset management and maintenance cost optimisation.

Through the Kazimierz Biskupi project, ORLEN is expanding its onshore renewable energy platform while supporting domestic project delivery, grid efficiency and the development of large-scale hybrid renewable energy clusters in Poland.
