Kaspersky Lab presented its new virtualization and fraud prevention solutions at Kaspersky Lab Security Analyst Summit in Budapest

Budapest, Hungary, 24-4-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Witnessing cyberthreats expanding and becoming more complicated each year, Kaspersky Lab pays special attention to sharing expertise. On April 20-24 within Kaspersky Lab Security Analyst Summit for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa held in Budapest, Hungary, Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT) specialists and invited IT-security experts met with the leading media in the region and discussed global and regional cyber threats, corporate security issues and solutions to them. The company also presented its new virtualization and fraud prevention solutions among other technologies, which continue to strengthen Kaspersky Lab’s enterprise security portfolio.

The Summit gathered a cast of IT-security experts: Necati Ersen Siseci from Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) Cyber Security Institute; Paolo Borghesi from Deloitte & Touche in Qatar; Boldizsar Bencsath from Laboratory of Cryptography and Systems Security of Budapest University of Technology and Economics; Kaspersky Lab representatives.

Within the event Sergey Novikov, Deputy Director of GReAT, covered the topic of threat evolution in the META region up to now. Kaspersky Lab’s products neutralized more than 132 million cyber-attacks and infections on PCs and mobile devices in the Middle East, 41.5 million in Turkey and 214 million in Africa – the figures about 50% more than in 2012. Company’s statistics also indicates that an average of 32,7% of users in the region faced web-related threats and 47,24% of users had security incidents related local networks and removable media.

Costin Raiu, Director of GReAT, presented analysis of the world of cyberwarfare and advanced persistent threats. He provided an overview of some of the recent cyberespionage campaigns and offered predictions for the future. While stating the trends of small cyber-mercenaries groups emerging and being available for hire to perform surgical hit and run operations, the decrease of cost of every new cyber-campaign, supply chain attacks, Costin stressed the importance of understanding that no high profile entity or enterprise should feel totally safe nowadays.

A special presentation was dedicated to securing online and mobile financial transactions. One of Kaspersky Lab’s Senior Security Researchers in the region Mohammad Amin Hasbini together with Head of Technology Positioning Department Vladimir Zapolyansky showcased vulnerabilities of modern electronic payment systems and e-commerce sites. They give examples of real-like cases and explained how the recently-presented Kaspersky Fraud Prevention platform helps combating cyber-attacks targeted at financial service providers and users.

A plenary discussion was dedicated to various global and regional corporate cybersecurity issues and CIOs’ fears. Among the topics were coping with Distributed Denials of Service, securing data storages, personal devices and clouds used by employees at work (BYOD and BYOC trends), employee attitudes towards security policies, the need of government regulations of standards in business.

Following the topic of enterprise threats during the Summit Vladimir Zapolyansky gave examples of how a number of cyber incidents could have been eliminated using security tools. Within his presentation he paid special attention to the recent expansion of the company’s enterprise portfolio – Kaspersky Security for Virtualization | Light Agent solution for Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and VMware customers and its availability in the region. The updated solution now brings security technologies to virtual endpoints that were previously difficult to secure without sacrificing network performance.
