(IN BRIEF) Kapsch TrafficCom’s joint venture with Indra and Worldline has been awarded an EUR 83 million contract by Spain’s DGT for support and technical assistance in managing an automated traffic violation processing system in León. The contract, which runs from March 2024 to December 2027, includes maintaining over 400 pieces of hardware used for speed measurement and video surveillance. The joint venture, in which Kapsch holds a 33% stake, will oversee the development and maintenance of systems, citizen services, and the handling of automated complaints.

(PRESS RELEASE) VIENNA/ MADRID, 24-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Kapsch TrafficCom, through its joint venture, has been awarded a comprehensive contract by Spain’s Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) to provide support and technical assistance for the management of an automated traffic violation processing system in León. The joint venture, in which Kapsch TrafficCom holds a 33% stake, will oversee the maintenance and operation of a sophisticated system that has already processed over three million traffic fines.

The scope of the contract includes managing automated complaints based on video surveillance, offering general citizen services, and providing ongoing system development and maintenance, which will encompass corrective, evolutionary, and predictive measures. The joint venture, comprising Kapsch TrafficCom, Indra, and Worldline, will also be responsible for maintaining over 400 pieces of hardware installed across the road network. This includes equipment for speed measurement and video surveillance cameras, crucial for various traffic enforcement tasks.

With a total contract value of EUR 83 million, the project is set to run from March 2024 through the end of 2027, reinforcing the joint venture’s critical role in Spain’s traffic management and road safety efforts.
