(PRESS RELEASE) LÜBECK, 7-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Dräger’s BG ProAir closed-circuit breathing apparatus has been selected as the preferred respiratory protection for the mine rescue teams of Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa (JSW) SA in Poland, following extensive testing across all of JSW’s mine rescue stations. The order, which includes 435 units, marks the largest purchase ever made by JSW for its mine rescue teams. The decision was driven by a commitment to safety, comfort, and advanced features to support the demanding conditions faced by the rescue teams.

The BG ProAir is designed with a positive pressure breathing circuit, ensuring no harmful substances can enter the closed system. The apparatus efficiently removes carbon dioxide during exhalation and provides oxygen-enriched air at a constant dosage for inhalation. The rescue teams also prioritized the device’s connectivity features, such as voice and data communication. With integrated microphones and headphones in the masks, the BG ProAir allows constant communication between the rescuers, the team captain, and surface response personnel, enhancing safety during operations.

Adam Rozmus, Vice President for Technical and Operational Matters at JSW, emphasized the importance of high-quality equipment for mine rescue teams: “Rescuers work under extreme conditions, and to ensure their safety, they need the best available equipment.” The BG ProAir’s combination of safety, comfort, and advanced technology made it the ideal choice for JSW’s mine rescue operations.

Helge Trabert, Global Product Manager at Dräger, expressed the company’s satisfaction with JSW’s decision, saying, “We are thrilled that JSW will rely on Dräger technology for their mine rescue teams. We took extensive customer feedback into account during the development of the BG ProAir, particularly to enhance breathing comfort and improve safety through high connectivity.”

The first batch of these advanced mine rescue devices was delivered in December 2024, further strengthening Dräger’s role as a leader in safety technology for life-critical operations.
