The facility will provide quality testing, trade compliance and import-export customs clearance services for petrochemical and fine chemical enterprises. Located in a major Yangtze River port-based industrial area, the laboratory is intended to strengthen SGS’s China testing network and help regional businesses improve quality, compliance, environmental performance and access to international markets.

(PRESS RELEASE) BAAR, 6-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — SGS has opened a new petrochemical testing laboratory in Hukou County, Jiujiang, expanding its analytical and compliance support for chemical-sector businesses in central China.

The facility was formally inaugurated on 2 July during an unveiling ceremony attended by company representatives, partners and local stakeholders. The opening strengthens SGS’s petrochemical testing network in China and adds capacity for customers in northern Jiangxi, eastern Hubei and southwestern Anhui.

Hukou is located in Jiujiang, an important industrial and logistics area along the Yangtze River. The region has developed a substantial port-based petrochemical cluster, creating demand for laboratory services that can support quality assurance, regulatory compliance and trade-related requirements.

The new SGS laboratory will offer testing services for petrochemical and fine chemical companies, including product-quality analysis, trade compliance support and testing related to import-export customs clearance. The facility is intended to give customers access to locally delivered services supported by internationally recognised testing standards and SGS’s wider global network.

John Wang, Senior Director of Natural Resources for SGS in China, said the new site represents a strategic expansion of the company’s national laboratory capability and strengthens its support for industrial activity in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.

He said the Hukou laboratory will help petrochemical businesses pursue higher-quality development, industrial modernisation, environmental improvement and international market access.

Arjan Praat, Vice President of Oil, Gas and Chemical Analytical Services, said SGS will continue to combine global technical knowledge, recognised analytical standards and sector experience to support local industry in China.

The laboratory is expected to contribute to the development of a more efficient, safe and sustainable petrochemical industry in the Hukou port area. SGS also plans to deepen cooperation with regional enterprises as the facility develops its service offering for the wider central China market.
