ITV channels joins mobile TV service Sky Go

LONDON, 9-6-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — From today (Wednesday 4 June) Sky Go, the award-winning mobile TV service, gets bigger and better as ITV channels – including ITV, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV – join the line-up for the first time.

Arriving just in time for the 2014 World Cup, Sky customers will now be able to catch all the best moments from ITV’s coverage of the eagerly-anticipated tournament, whenever and wherever they are.  Sky Go is the perfect way for those caught out and about with no TV in sight to make sure they can still watch the key sporting moments, including England’s games on 19 and 24 June.

Alternatively, if the action from Brazil is dominating the main TV in the house, non-football fans will now be able to use Sky Go to seek refuge in another room in the house to watch some of their favourite shows like Coronation Street, Midsomer Murders or Emmerdale.

ITV’s brand new drama channel, ITV Encore, will also join Sky Go when it launches on 9 June.  Exclusive to Sky TV customers, ITV Encore will be the place to watch some of the most talked-about dramas on TV including Whitechapel and Broadchurch. As well as watching ITV Encore live, Sky Go users will also be able to catch-up on missed episodes or choose from a library of ITV drama box sets. On demand content from other ITV channels will join the service later in 2014.

Sky Go customers can now watch up to 63 channels with a compatible mobile, tablet or laptop wherever they are in the UK – with popular channels E!, Home and Lifetime also coming this summer.  Recently supported smartphones include the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s Brand Director of TV Products, commented: “Sky Go is home to the widest range of channels available anywhere our customers are, and reaching the milestone of over 60 live channels is a huge achievement. We are really excited to offer ITV channels on Sky Go as we know there can be a fight for the remote when a big summer of sport kicks off. Whether people want to catch the football – or take refuge from it – this gives our customers even more flexibility to enjoy the TV they love, on their terms.”

Martin Goswami, Director of Pay & Distribution, ITV said: “Allowing viewers to access our shows across a range of platforms and devices, both at home and on the move, is a key part of our strategy. We’re delighted to offer Sky customers the chance to never miss their favourite ITV shows on Sky Go.”

At the end of March 2014, Sky Go had over 3.7 million unique users, up 13% year-on-year. In the first three months of this year, the Barclays Premier League delivered the three highest Sky Go audiences ever – peaking with 379,000 unique viewers of Manchester City vs. Chelsea in February.
