(PRESS RELEASE) TURIN/MILAN, 12-Jun-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Intesa Sanpaolo launches CO₂ Mitigation Solutions, a comprehensive support programme designed to help Italian businesses measure, reduce, and offset their carbon emissions—bolstering both sustainability credentials and market competitiveness.

Through this new offering, corporate clients can:

  • Quantify their greenhouse gas emissions via an intuitive carbon-footprint assessment tool.
  • Establish a multi-year decarbonisation roadmap aligned with Science-Based Targets (GHG Protocol).
  • Implement tailored industrial processes to cut CO₂ emissions at the source.
  • Finance internationally certified climate-mitigation projects to offset residual emissions.

Developed jointly by the Banca dei Territori Division, led by Stefano Barrese, and the Chief Sustainability Officer Governance Area under Paola Angeletti, CO₂ Mitigation Solutions underscores Intesa Sanpaolo’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, natural-capital protection, and climate-change action.

Clients who opt in will not only refine their internal decarbonisation strategies but also gain access to high-impact carbon credits from projects chosen by the bank. These credits support tropical peatland restoration in Indonesia (Katingan Peatland Restoration and Conservation) and rainforest conservation in Malaysia (Kuamut Rainforest Conservation), generating significant biodiversity and community benefits.

Technical expertise for the programme is provided by Carbonsink, Italy’s leading climate-strategy consultancy. Studio Chiomenti serves as legal advisor, with Bain & Company offering strategic counsel.
