(IN BRIEF) Hydro Energi AS has entered into a long-term power purchase agreement with NTE to secure 660 GWh of renewable energy for the period from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2029. This contract is a key component of Hydro Energy’s extensive portfolio, which includes 9.4 TWh of captive power production and an additional 10 TWh from long-term agreements. The secured renewable power will support Hydro’s aluminium production, enabling the manufacture of aluminium with a carbon footprint significantly lower than the global average and advancing the company’s strategy towards achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 10-Mar-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Hydro Energi AS has inked a long-term power purchase agreement with NTE, securing 660 GWh of energy for delivery between January 1, 2027, and December 31, 2029.

This PPA forms a critical part of Hydro Energy’s broader portfolio, which boasts 9.4 TWh of captive power production each year along with approximately 10 TWh secured under long-term contracts. The agreement, scheduled for delivery within the NO3 price area, underscores Hydro Energy’s pivotal role in sourcing renewable energy for Hydro’s aluminium production. 

This renewable supply is essential not only for maintaining a competitive edge in the Nordic power market but also for producing aluminium with a carbon footprint roughly 75 percent lower than the global average. Such strategic energy procurement supports Hydro’s technology roadmap as the company advances towards its net-zero emissions target by 2050.
