Hella Gutmann Expands Cyber Security Management to Include Latest BMW Models in Mega Macs Diagnostic Software

(IN BRIEF) Hella Gutmann has expanded its Cyber Security Management (CSM) feature within the mega macs diagnostic software to include the latest BMW vehicles, eliminating the need for workshops to register through OE portals. With this update, CSM now supports 17 automotive brands, covering over 650 vehicle models, and provides seamless, secure diagnostics for modern vehicles. The service is available at no additional cost to users with an active mega macs license.

(PRESS RELEASE) LIPPSTADT, 14-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Hella Gutmann has announced an expansion of its ‘Cyber Security Management’ (CSM) feature within the mega macs diagnostic software, now enabling seamless diagnostics for the latest BMW vehicles equipped with advanced cyber security systems. This update allows workshops to diagnose BMW models without needing to register through the original equipment (OE) portal, adding BMW to the growing list of 17 automotive brands supported by Hella Gutmann’s CSM.

Hella Gutmann first introduced CSM to its mega macs diagnostic devices in 2020. With this latest update, workshops can now easily access diagnostic processes for the latest BMW models, including those with Secure Feature Activation (SFA), such as the 7 Series, X1 compact SUV, and newer 5 Series and X2 models. Future BMW models are also expected to be supported under this system.

Currently, Hella Gutmann’s CSM provides unhindered diagnostic access to models from Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Cupra, Dacia, Dodge/RAM, Fiat, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Seat, Skoda, VW, and now BMW. Additionally, vehicles from Ford, Polestar, and Volvo can be diagnosed using the See Key procedure with almost all mega macs devices. In total, the CSM feature covers over 650 vehicle models.

The CSM process is designed for simplicity and efficiency. Instead of requiring individual registration and activation through each OE portal—along with associated fees—workshops using mega macs devices only need to authenticate once with Hella Gutmann, free of charge. After this one-time authentication, the system automatically unlocks vehicle gateways as needed, assuming an active Internet connection is available.

Once a vehicle is identified via manual input or VIN, mega macs instantly recognizes whether it’s a secured vehicle. If the user has an active CSM account, the system automatically initiates the necessary steps to unlock the vehicle’s gateway, enabling a full range of diagnostic functions, including reading and clearing error codes, viewing parameters, performing calibrations, coding, actuator tests, and service resets.

This service is available at no extra cost to users with an active, paid mega macs license, making it a highly efficient solution for workshops dealing with a wide range of modern, cyber-secured vehicles.
