Guinness World Record for SAP® Sybase® IQ Software

1-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that version 16 of SAP® Sybase® IQ software has achieved a Guinness World Record® for loading and indexing big data. In cooperation with BMMsoft, HP and Red Hat, SAP Sybase IQ 16 achieved an audited result of 34.3 terabytes per hour*, far surpassing the previous record of 14 terabytes per hour achieved by the same team using a previous version of SAP Sybase IQ. SAP Sybase IQ 16, the latest version of the highly optimized real-time analytics server and enterprise data warehouse (EDW) for extreme data implements a new, fully parallel data loading capability and a next-generation column store, enabling the huge jump in big data performance.

The new record easily eclipses previously published data loading results from within the industry for single-rack solutions, exhibiting the unprecedented ability to load and analyze 823 terabytes per day and 5.7 petabytes per week of structured and unstructured big data with SAP Sybase IQ 16. It also demonstrates the software’s ability to efficiently handle extreme-scale EDWs and big data analytics by providing high-speed data loading, indexing, immediate access and deep analysis of both structured data — for example, database records — and unstructured data such as emails, documents and multimedia files. SAP Sybase IQ makes it simpler and more cost-effective to exploit the value of extreme data at the speed of business, helping to transform companies with new insights and future business predictions that were previously thought impossible or impractical.

“Big data requires enormous loading speed, data scalability and query speed, and with this world record result SAP Sybase IQ 16 has proven again its excellence in on-disk analytics for loading, storing and analyzing unified business intelligence and big data,” said Irfan Khan, chief technology officer and senior vice president, Database & Technology, SAP AG. “With SAP, companies can run better with new real-time insights via acquisition, acceleration and analysis of big data sets through an integrated solution centered on SAP Sybase IQ and the SAP Real-Time Data Platform.”

SAP Sybase IQ 16 is faster, more secure and more adaptable to changing business requirements. By extending the power of analytics to more people and processes with less effort and expense, SAP Sybase IQ 16 as an EDW enables the SAP® Real-Time Data Platform to turn extreme data into actionable insight at the speed of business. SAP Sybase IQ also plays a clear role in the SAP Real-Time Data Platform as the near-line-store to the SAP HANA® platform that handles massive amounts of real-time and historical data.
