These locomotives, offering up to 6.4 MW of power and a top speed of 200 km/h, will be produced in Siemens’ Munich-Allach plant, with chassis supplied from Graz.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, 18-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Green Mobility Partners (GMP), a new entrant in the European locomotive leasing sector based in Vienna, has made a strategic move by placing an order for up to 50 Vectron MS locomotives from Siemens Mobility. The initial agreement covers the purchase of eight Vectron MS locomotives, along with comprehensive support services. This partnership marks a significant step for GMP as it begins operations in the locomotive leasing market.

GMP’s founder, Christoph Katzensteiner, highlighted the company’s specialized expertise in locomotive leasing and its focus on providing top-tier service with the Vectron platform. “Our team has deep experience in the locomotive leasing business, and we are excited to offer our customers unmatched service with the Vectron, a vehicle we are well-versed in,” Katzensteiner stated.

Andre Rodenbeck, CEO of Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility, welcomed Green Mobility Partners into the Vectron family, underscoring the locomotive’s strong reputation across Europe. “The Vectron MS is a benchmark for cross-border rail travel, with approvals in over 20 countries, making it an ideal choice for the leasing business. Its cutting-edge technology, interoperability, and constant feature upgrades ensure it meets the needs of operators both new and established,” Rodenbeck said.

The Vectron MS locomotives boast impressive technical capabilities, with a maximum output of 6.4 MW and top speeds reaching 200 km/h. These features make them a cost-effective and efficient solution for sustainable rail transport across Central and Eastern Europe. Siemens Mobility will manufacture the locomotives at its Munich-Allach plant, with chassis production handled by its global competence center in Graz.

Alongside the locomotive deliveries, the service agreement offers 24/7 support, and an option for both corrective and preventive maintenance, ensuring continuous reliability and performance for operators.

This deal signifies Green Mobility Partners’ ambitious entry into the European leasing market, while also strengthening the presence of Siemens Mobility’s Vectron locomotives across the region.
