(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 6-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — GRAHAM has successfully completed the first phase of a major build-to-rent (BTR) project in Bonnington, Edinburgh, which has been handed over to the developer and operator, PLATFORM_. This development will ultimately provide a total of 464 new homes to the city, a significant addition that includes 25% of the units designated for intermediate market rent, equating to 116 homes.

This landmark project marks a critical milestone, being the only new BTR initiative to launch in Edinburgh this year. The initial phase has been finalized, offering 365 apartments for rent alongside a host of premium amenities designed to enhance residents’ lifestyles. These amenities feature a fully equipped gym, a yoga studio, co-working spaces, a lounge, guest accommodations, a private dining area, a screening room, a spin room, and landscaped outdoor areas. Additionally, a children’s soft playroom and outdoor play area have been incorporated. The development also includes a newly created riverside park and walkway, four commercial units, and improved access roads connecting Anderson Place and Bonnington Road Lane.

Sustainability has been a key focus throughout the construction process, with features such as electric vehicle charging stations for residents, mechanical heat recovery systems installed in each home, and solar panels that facilitate green energy production.

Situated along the picturesque Water of Leith, the development boasts proximity to Leith Shore and convenient public transport links to the city center, including access to the extended tram line.

GRAHAM has previously delivered PLATFORM_’s BTR project in Glasgow, which featured 498 apartments at Central Quay. Completed in October 2023, this award-winning development has become one of the tallest structures in the city, rising 20 stories high.

Gary Holmes, the regional managing director for GRAHAM’s Building North region, commented, “We are proud to collaborate with PLATFORM_ and Heimstaden Bostad in providing high-quality housing options in Bonnington. This project, with its innovative design and comprehensive amenities, sets a new benchmark for modern living in Edinburgh.”

Jean-Marc Vandevivere, CEO of PLATFORM_, remarked, “Our latest Edinburgh development will invigorate the vibrant Bonnington area by offering tech-enabled, competitively priced housing that is highly sought after in the city. The demand is evident, as all available one- and two-bedroom intermediate market rent homes have been reserved.”

“With nearly 1,000 BTR units expected to be operational in Glasgow and Edinburgh by the end of the year, we are eager to receive clarity on the regulatory landscape from the Scottish Government. This will enable us to invest in new projects and provide even more essential rental housing across Scotland,” he added.

This press release was authored to detail the successful completion of GRAHAM’s BTR development and its significance for the housing landscape in Edinburgh.
