German web printer Bagel RotoOffset implements Apogee Suite 8 workflow with automatic imposition and 64-bit processing from Agfa Graphics

Bagel RotoOffset, a web printer in Germany is able to work more efficiently thanks to the installation and use of Apogee Suite 8 workflow with automatic imposition and 64-bit processing from Agfa Graphics. This latest version of Agfa Graphics’ PDF workflow suite features a series of new tools that helps volume printers optimize their available production resources.

Mortsel, Belgium, 21-6-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Apogee runs natively on 64-bit Windows Server operating systems. As such, printers optimally benefit from their complete system’s processing power. They can make optimal use of the available processing hardware and take full advantage of virtualization software.

Among the new features built into Apogee is Agfa Graphics’ unique web printing imposition software. Automatic imposition for sheet presses in Apogee is based on the CIP4 Folding Catalogue and today already 60% of sheet fed jobs are processed by AutoImpose in Apogee. Automatic web printing imposition is based on web press production schemes. Production schemes are available for all web presses describing the complete feature set of the installation including cutting, slitting, folding and binding alternatives. Apogee takes into account every parameter to define the best imposition.

Jörn Knabe, Prepress manager at Bagel RotoOffset in Germany, installed and is using Apogee. He said:

“The imposition solution relieves our day-to-day work because now Apogee calculates the imposition based on the predefined schemes from our web press.”

Bagel RotoOffset in Meineweh near Leipzig installed the first 96-page web offset press from manroland for the printing of inserts and supplements. An important preliminary task was the up-scaling of the entire “Very Very Large Format” prepress workflow. Bagel RotoOffset’s new Avalon N48 CtP engine from Agfa Graphics, which can image plates to 48-up, and the latest upgrade of the Apogee Prepress Workflow are the key components of this fully automated, high run length print production configuration.
