Garanti BBVA Launches Gender-Focused Sustainable Bond Under International Funding Programme

The bond was issued on 29 June with a tenor of 372 days and is aligned with the BBVA Sustainable Debt Financing Framework. The proceeds will support projects focused on women’s entrepreneurship, women’s leadership, equal opportunities in employment, financial inclusion and broader economic participation. The issuance also meets relevant criteria under the Orange Bond Principles developed by the Impact Investment Exchange.

The bond was issued under the bank’s international funding programme and is aligned with the BBVA Sustainable Debt Financing Framework.

The issuance also meets the relevant criteria of the Orange Bond Principles, developed by the Impact Investment Exchange, known as IIX.

Issued on 29 June, the bond has a tenor of 372 days.

Garanti BBVA said the proceeds will be directed toward initiatives designed to advance gender equality across employment and value chains.

Eligible areas include projects that strengthen women’s entrepreneurship, support women’s leadership, improve financial inclusion and expand economic opportunities for women.

The transaction represents a further step in gender-focused financing through the capital markets.
