French Government Greenlights Neste’s Renewable Diesel for Public Fuel Stations

(IN BRIEF) Neste celebrates a pivotal regulatory milestone as the French government approves the sale of 100% renewable transport fuels, including Neste’s renewable diesel, at all public fuel stations across France. This decision expands access beyond logistics companies to private vehicle fleets and individual consumers, offering a sustainable solution that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Neste MY Renewable Diesel, known for its compatibility with existing infrastructure and diesel engines, emerges as a key player in advancing sustainable mobility across France and beyond.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 2-Jul-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Neste applauds the French government’s landmark decision to authorize the sale of 100% renewable transport fuels, including renewable diesel (HVO100), at all public fuel stations throughout France. Previously restricted to logistics companies with dedicated fuel networks, this regulatory shift now enables widespread access to Neste’s renewable diesel without the need for blending in all user segments.

“This approval marks a pivotal moment in our efforts to combat climate change,” stated Claudia Stuckmann-Invernizzi, Vice President of Public Affairs at Neste. “Private vehicle fleets and individual consumers will soon have access to a product that significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.”

Neste has demonstrated its commitment to emissions reduction in the transport sector through recent agreements with fuel distributors, facilitating the distribution of Neste MY Renewable Diesel in the French market. This sustainable fuel, derived entirely from renewable raw materials, achieves emission reductions of up to 95% over the lifecycle compared to fossil diesel. Importantly, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is compatible with all diesel engines and existing fuel distribution infrastructure, requiring no modifications.

“With a chemical composition akin to fossil diesel, Neste MY Renewable Diesel serves as a seamless, drop-in replacement,” added Stuckmann-Invernizzi. “Its widespread approval by vehicle and engine manufacturers underscores its role as a cornerstone in sustainable mobility solutions.”
