Florian Weghorn appointed the new programme manager for Berlinale Talents

BERLIN, 14-7-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — On July 1, 2014, Florian Weghorn took over as programme manager for Berlinale Talents. Weghorn was formerly deputy head of the section Generation. Together with project manager Christine Tröstrum, Florian Weghorn will be responsible for the general direction of Berlinale Talents for the future.

“Florian Weghorn brings his programming experience and knowledge of the festival to Berlinale Talents. We’re very happy that through him, the programming sections and our successful networking platform will be even more closely connected,” says Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick.

Weghorn was born in Oldenburg, 1976, and studied theatre, film and television studies at the University of Cologne. After receiving an M.A. in film studies in 2002, he went on to work for the Berlinale, first as an assistant and since 2008 as the deputy head ofGeneration. He is a member of the selection committee for the Berlinale’s Competition and also serves on the jury for the children’s film fund of the BKM (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media).

Application round for Berlinale Talents 2015 underway

The application round for the 13th edition of Berlinale Talents is underway: Emerging directors, screenwriters, producers, distributors, world sales agents, actors, cinematographers, editors, production designers, sound designers, film music composers and film critics can apply for theBerlinale Talents 2015. 300 selected film creatives from all over the world come together from February 7-12, 2015, in the venues of the HAU Hebbel am Ufer theatre with about 100 renowned experts and mentors. The application can be found online at www.berlinale-talents.de, deadline is September 1, 2014.

Berlinale Talents is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, a business division of the Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, in cooperation with Robert Bosch Stiftung, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Canon.
