ROME, 16-Feb-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Asia’s biggest aerospace show is set to start on the 16th of February inSingapore, and Finmeccanica will be participating with its newly integrated “One Company” organisation. Leader in the aerospace, defence and security sectors, Finmeccanica will be exhibiting its latest technologies and products in the helicopter, aeronautics and security fields to the Singapore and South-East Asian market.

Expected to draw particular interest this year is ‘Project Zero’, Finmeccanica’s futuristic green-technology aircraft which will make its Asian debut at the show. Project Zero integrates future technologies in the fields of aeronautics, electronics and features electric propulsion with a low environmental impact. This year also marks the return of the C-27J, Finmeccanica Aircraft Division’s tactical transport, which has been absent since the 2012 show. This year the C-27J will be carrying Royal Australian Air Force livery.

Finmeccanica is proud to be able to point to its long-standing association with the Republic of Singaporethrough links with both Government institutions and research and development agencies. The cooperation is based on an acknowledgement of the Italian aerospace group as a proven leader in technological innovation.

The Singapore Air Show is also a prime opportunity for Finmeccanica to show how, as a One Company organised in Divisions Helicopters, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Airborne and Space Systems, Land and Naval Defence Electronics, Defence Systems and Security and Information Systems, it can offer, to the Republic of Singapore and the whole Asian Continent, a range of effective solutions that can respond to their needs.

Project Zero is the only unmanned technological development programme in the world that brings together electric propulsion, the vertical take-off and landing capabilities of a helicopter and the in-flight speed and altitude performance of an aeroplane. A result of Finmeccanica’s collaboration with research agencies and companies from Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan, Project Zero has led to the design of new technologies which can be applied to other new products under development. Finmeccanica’s excellence in vertical flight is also represented by existing successful aircraft such as the AgustaWestland AW101, the market-leading medium-weight, multi-role helicopter, and the intermediate models AW169 and AW139. Over 340 Finmeccanica helicopters have been ordered to date by defence, government and commercial operators in the region. These aifcraft carry out naval, utility, national security, search and rescue, helicopter-ambulance and maritime patrol missions.

Singapore’s Air Force is the first “export” customer for Finmeccanica’s M-346 trainer aircraft. The M-346 is the most advanced training aircraft available for pilots who are preparing for future duty with current-generation defence aircraft. Thanks to the M-346’s superior flight performance and quality and its innovative technical characteristics, the aircraft provides a high level of safety combined with low acquisition and operation costs. The M-346 has been ordered by the air forces of Italy, Singapore, Israel and Poland.

The C-27J Spartan, considered the benchmark medium-sized tactical airlifter, is also of great interest in the region, where the aircraft is in-service with the Royal Australian Air Force. The C-27J, ordered by 14 international customers with 82 units sold, is capable of carrying out missions such as troop and cargo transportation, medical evacuation, airdrop operations, paratrooper launches, Search And Rescue (SAR), logistic re-supply, humanitarian assistance, fire-fighting and operations in support of homeland security.

Finmeccanica can deliver solutions for the security requirements of the region, protecting its extensive coasts and territorial waters. These include CNS-ATM (Communication, Navigation, Surveillance – Air Traffic Management) systems for ports and airports, satellite communications for commercial and passenger ships, ground and underwater defence systems and coastal patrol aircraft. Finmeccanica is widely acknowledged as the leader in the development of complex solutions for air traffic management systems and more than 1000 of the company’s primary and secondary radars are operational in over 150 countries. These innovative solutions, based on proprietary technologies, are characterised by efficiency, security, high performance and environmental sustainability.
