(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 11-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The Otto Group has announced that, effective October 1, 2025, Martin Umland will become Group Vice President Supply Chain Management, succeeding Raphael Adrian Maier, who has chosen to leave the Hamburg-based retail and services group at his own request.

With this appointment, the Otto Group is placing a seasoned logistics expert from within its own ranks into a strategically vital leadership role. In his new position, Umland will oversee group-wide logistics planning, strategy, innovation, and corporate services, helping to strengthen the company’s long-term supply chain resilience.

An engineer by training, Umland joined the Otto Group in 2006, initially working as a project manager within the Otto Group Holding and later at Hermes Fulfilment. From 2010 onward, he moved into leadership positions at Bonprix Group, where he most recently served as Vice President Logistics, responsible for the international logistics operations of the global fashion brand. In addition to leading complex logistics networks, Umland successfully managed and delivered a comprehensive transformation program for the entire Bonprix Group organization, which concluded at the end of 2024.

“We are delighted that Martin, an accomplished and trusted leader from within the Otto Group, is stepping into this strategically important position at Otto Group Holding. His track record of success gives us confidence in his ability to drive forward our logistics strategy,” said Kay Schiebur, Executive Board Services of the Otto Group.

Umland will succeed Raphael Adrian Maier, who departs on September 30, 2025, to return to his native Switzerland. “Raphael has been instrumental in elevating supply chain management across the Otto Group,” added Schiebur. “He has delivered remarkable achievements, including forging pioneering partnerships in AI robotics with Covariant and Boston Dynamics. His contributions have set new standards in our logistics strategy. While we regret his decision to leave, we extend our sincere thanks and best wishes for his future.”
