A major investment fund that provides the government with technology solutions in the energy industry is to base its research center at Skolkovo under a deal signed at Startup Village this week.
MOSCOW, 8-6-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Not only is Energy Without Borders due to conduct its own research at Skolkovo, but it has already identified several Skolkovo startups in which it plans to invest, said Dmitry Grinchenko, the foundation’s director.
“Energy Without Borders is an ideal, suitable, smart investor for the Skolkovo ecosystem,” said Nikolay Grachev, executive director of the energy cluster.
“It’s exactly the kind of investment resource and industry expertise that the startups need.”
State energy company Inter RAO established the Energy Without Borders Foundation in 2011 to support and develop innovations. The mission of Energy Without Borders is to identify highly promising areas of energy industry development and to finance.
Goals include the development of new technologies to improve the energy efficiency of gas-fired combined cycle plants and the improvement of coal-fired power generation.
Establishing strategic partnerships with world energy leaders is a key aim of the foundation; as is creating its own innovative products in partnership with the leading Russian enterprises and R&D centers, both Skolkovo specialties.
