Eneco Group to undergo orgnisational change in three strategic areas: sustainable energy, energy supply and innovative services

ROTTERDAM, 11-Jun-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — Eneco Group has started a change process with the aim to achieve further growth in three strategic areas: sustainable energy, energy supply and innovative services. This process will continue until the end of 2019 and includes cost reductions amounting to nearly 100 million euros as well as changes in the Eneco Group organisation.

To achieve this, we are changing the structure of the organisation and striving for higher efficiency and substantial cost reductions.” The plans include centralisation of customer services and the activities in the area of digital innovation.

Consequences for personnel
The focus on cost reductions and higher efficiency will also have consequences for personnel. On 1 September, some 250 positions will cease to exist, around one third of which are filled by temporary staff. At the same time, a number of the employees concerned will be able to apply for the vacancies that will arise in the new organisation. A further reduction is expected in the next year and a half, in part resulting from natural attrition and internal mobility. The change process was announced at the end of 2017; today all Eneco Group employees have been informed of the restructurings and the consequences for personnel. During the coming weeks, employees will be informed in detail what the impact will be for them personally at this stage. The change process does not impact Eneco Group’s foreign commercial activities in this phase.

Frans van de Noort: “We will do everything we can to avoid forced redundancies, for example by helping the employees concerned to find other jobs within or outside Eneco Group. This process is carried out in close collaboration with the central works council and the trade unions.”

The change process coincides with the announced privatisation of Eneco Group. Frans van de Noort: “We are starting this process in order to realise our growth strategy and to better serve our customers. Naturally, this is also in the interest of our existing and future shareholders.”
