As CEO for India, Surana will oversee business growth, client relationships, delivery performance, project management, engineering and advisory capabilities. (PRESS RELEASE) GUYANCOURT, 20-Jul-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Egis has appointed Vipul Surana as Chief Executive Officer for its operations in India, with immediate effect.

The appointment comes as Egis continues to strengthen its position in one of its most important growth markets. The Group has been active in India for more than 30 years, delivering major projects across urban development, water, roads and airports, while maintaining a strong presence in rail, roads and buildings.

Egis said the leadership appointment supports its wider ambition to become one of the world’s top 10 construction engineering firms. India is a key part of that strategy, as both public and private investment in infrastructure continue to grow.

Surana brings more than three decades of experience in infrastructure delivery. His career has included senior roles across India, the United Kingdom, Europe, South Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East, with work spanning urban infrastructure, bridges, highways, metro systems and ports.

A Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK, Surana holds an MTech in Structures from IIT Delhi. He is also a member of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering.

In his new role, Surana will lead Egis’s business across India, overseeing growth, client relationships and delivery performance across the company’s full portfolio in the country.

His responsibilities will include strengthening Egis’s project management, engineering and advisory capabilities, as well as developing the next generation of technical leadership within the Indian business.

Surana takes charge of a business with a long-established presence and broader commitments beyond project delivery. Egis has been certified as a Top Employer in India by the Top Employers Institute for five consecutive years.

The company’s community programmes in India will also continue under his leadership. These include multi-year education partnerships with the Shakti Foundation and support for the NeeV learning centre, which together support hundreds of underserved children in the Delhi NCR region each year.

Egis said these initiatives form part of the Group’s wider sustainability commitments.

Frederico Justus, CEO of the Middle East and South Asia at Egis, said India has played a central role in the Group’s growth over the past three decades.

“India is a market we have built over three decades and we are now close to 3,000 people delivering some of the country’s most demanding programmes, which have been key to our global growth,” said Justus.

He added that Surana’s sector knowledge, international delivery experience and understanding of the pace of India’s infrastructure market make him well suited to lead the next phase of the business.

Surana said he is joining Egis at an important moment for India’s infrastructure sector.

“India is expected to invest around $1.7 trillion in infrastructure by 2030, more than double the previous seven years,” said Surana.

He described India’s infrastructure development as one of the most ambitious in the world and said Egis is well positioned to contribute to it.

Surana said his initial priority will be to strengthen the foundations of the business, including its people, client relationships and operating discipline.

He added that the next phase will include accelerating the digital and low-carbon parts of the business to support future growth and meet evolving infrastructure needs.
