Egis Becomes Sole Shareholder of Former Fulton Hogan Egis Operations & Maintenance Business

(IN BRIEF) Egis has become the sole shareholder of Fulton Hogan Egis Operations & Maintenance Pty Ltd, with the business now operating as Egis Operations Australia from July 2026. The move follows a 10-year partnership with Fulton Hogan that delivered operations and maintenance services across key Sydney motorway assets, including WestConnex and the M6. The transition retains continuity, with 140 employees moving to Egis and preserving the expertise, safety culture and operational knowledge built over the past decade. Egis and Fulton Hogan will continue to collaborate on projects and opportunities across Australia and New Zealand. The announcement follows Egis’ appointment as Network Strategic Partner for Incident Response and Maintenance on Transurban’s WestConnex, M5 South West, Eastern Distributor and Cross City Tunnel. The move marks a new phase for the business following a successful 10-year partnership with Fulton Hogan. Over the past decade, the joint operation has delivered operations and maintenance services across some of Sydney’s most important motorway assets, including WestConnex and the M6.

During this period, the business has built a strong reputation for safety, operational performance and reliability, supporting millions of journeys and helping maintain the smooth operation of Sydney’s road network.

Egis and Fulton Hogan will continue to collaborate on future projects and opportunities, maintaining their established relationship across Australia and New Zealand.

The transition will also provide continuity for clients and partners, with 140 employees moving to Egis. This will retain the knowledge, technical capability and culture developed through the partnership over the past decade.

The announcement follows Egis’ recent appointment as Network Strategic Partner for Incident Response and Maintenance on Transurban’s WestConnex, M5 South West, Eastern Distributor and Cross City Tunnel under a long-term contract.

Through this contract, Egis maintains one of the largest interconnected urban tunnel networks in the world. The creation of Egis Operations Australia reflects both continuity and evolution, preserving a proven delivery model while giving Egis the ability to further invest in operations and maintenance capabilities in Australia.

Egis has provided operations and maintenance services for toll roads in Australia for more than 30 years. The formation of Egis Operations Australia brings these capabilities together under a unified Egis brand.

The business will be fully integrated into Egis’ global network, combining local knowledge with international scale and expertise.

Globally, Egis operates and maintains approximately 7,800 kilometres of roads across 25 countries, supporting more than 2.6 million vehicle journeys each day. The company also manages around 192 kilometres of road tunnels worldwide.

Its international experience includes major infrastructure projects such as the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul and motorway tunnels in Dublin, demonstrating Egis’ ability to operate complex transport infrastructure in demanding environments.

The combination of Australian expertise and global experience will support 24/7 operations across traffic management, safety systems, incident response and asset management, with a focus on safety, performance and reliability.
