(PRESS RELEASE) HAMBURG, 13-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — For the first time, ECE is bringing the Ruby brand to Denmark with the development of a new hotel in Copenhagen. The project, located in the Frederiksberg municipality at the heart of the city, is a collaboration between ECE Work & Live as the project developer and Ruby Group as the operator. The two companies have signed a long-term lease agreement for the planned hotel building, marking the Ruby Group’s debut in Denmark.

The hotel will feature 219 modern design rooms, complemented by attractive public spaces, including a winter garden on the ground floor and a roof terrace offering panoramic views of the city. Construction is set to begin in the second half of 2025, with the hotel expected to open its doors in early 2027.

Henrie W. Kötter, CEO of ECE Work & Live, shared his enthusiasm, stating: “This project is a prime example of our strategy to acquire existing assets or plots in select metropolitan areas across Europe and transform them into sustainable, user-focused properties that appeal to investors. We are excited to partner with the Ruby Group on this venture and bring this exciting project to life.”

Elena Günther-Jakobs, Associate Director for Central & Northern Europe at the Ruby Group, also expressed excitement about the project, saying: “Copenhagen has always been on our radar, and we are delighted to make our market debut in Denmark. The city’s dynamic atmosphere, rich in art, culture, and renowned gastronomy, aligns perfectly with our brand. We look forward to expanding our successful partnership with ECE and introducing our distinctive hospitality concept to this vibrant market.”

The new Ruby Hotel will be developed by converting an existing office building located on the main shopping street Gammel Kongevej. The site is well positioned in an area known for high-quality residential spaces, attractive retail offerings, abundant greenery, and excellent transport links to the city center and the airport. ECE Work & Live acquired the property in 2024, with a total investment of approximately 65 million euros.

In addition to this project, ECE Work & Live is also developing another hotel in Italy in collaboration with Ruby Group. This project involves the transformation of a historic building in central Rome into a Ruby Hotel, with 164 rooms. Other hotel projects by ECE Group include the renovation of a historic hotel in Venice, which is being repositioned as a 5-star lifestyle hotel, and the development of a hotel operated by Stayery on the rooftop of the Gesundbrunnen Center in Berlin, managed by ECE Real Estate Partners.

ECE Work & Live was legally advised by Accura, Copenhagen, on the lease agreement with Ruby Group.
