EBRD names its new EU representative, Florentine Hopmeier

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 27-Jan-2020 — /EuropaWire/ — EBRD announces the appointment of Florentine Hopmeier as new head of its Brussels office. She will start her role as the new EU representative today, 27th of January 2020. Florentine succeeds Gwilym Jones, who left the Bank in October 2019.

Florentine will also serve as a representative of the EBRD in its relations with stakeholders in Brussels, in particular the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

Prior to joining EBRD, Florentine has led several positions in the European Commission since 2013. Most recently, she served in the cabinet of Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn. Florentine also served as a member of the cabinet of European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen, where her work focused on fostering strategic investment inside and outside of the EU. She also worked in the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, DG ECFIN, as Team Leader (Treasury and Financial Operations). Before her tenure in the European Commission, Florentine has gained experience in the financial sector through her positions at BNP Paribas and HSBC in Paris.

Florentine, a Austrian national, studied political science and business administration in Paris, Nancy and London. She earned her double master’s degree from HEC Paris Grande École and Sciences Po in corporate and public management.
