(IN BRIEF) E.ON and alpitronic have partnered to accelerate the growth of e-mobility by deploying 4,500 additional fast-charging stations across Europe by 2025. With the goal of registering 15 million electric vehicles in Germany by 2030, E.ON is investing in expanding the charging infrastructure to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles. The new fast-charging stations from alpitronic will cover a wide range of charging needs, from workplace and retail charging to ultrafast highway charging and heavy-duty commercial vehicle charging. E.ON and alpitronic also aim to improve the customer experience at the charging stations by optimizing the interaction between vehicles, charging stations, and billing systems. Furthermore, they plan to introduce charging solutions for heavy-duty commercial vehicles and future megawatt charging.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESSEN, 31-May-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — E.ON (ETR: EOAN), one of Europe’s largest operators of energy networks and energy infrastructure, is dedicated to driving the progress of e-mobility and meeting the growing demand for charging infrastructure in Europe. In line with this commitment, E.ON has placed an order for 4,500 additional fast charging columns from renowned manufacturer alpitronic. These charging stations will be deployed for customer projects and public charging purposes by 2025.

Patrick Lammers, member of the E.ON Board of Management, responsible for the customer solutions business: “The energy transition in transport toward electric mobility is in full swing. Electric driving is easy, fun, saves CO2 and is becoming interesting for more and more people. At E.ON, we offer our customers everything they need to make the switch, both privately and for business. Our long-standing and successful partnership with alpitronic is a central element for this. It enables us to further promote the expansion of the European charging infrastructure and thus ensure more climate protection in transport.”

Philipp Senoner, CEO and co-founder of alpitronic, adds: “A green turnaround in transport that is to succeed because it convinces end customers requires a dense network of reliable charging points. Our partnership with E.ON, which has grown over the years, makes this possible. As specialists in power electronics, our hypercharger product line provides the reliable, efficient, forward-looking solution for our partner E.ON in expanding the charging infrastructure throughout Europe.”

With the goal of registering at least 15 million electric vehicles in Germany by 2030, E.ON recognizes the need for an expanded charging network to facilitate the transition to electromobility. By partnering with alpitronic, E.ON aims to support customers across Europe in their switch to electric vehicles by expanding its own charging network.

The latest generation of alpitronic fast charging stations, offering outputs ranging from 50 to 400 kW, will be deployed. These versatile stations cater to various charging needs, including workplace, retail, ultrafast highway, and even heavy commercial vehicle charging.

E.ON and alpitronic are also focused on enhancing the customer experience at the charging stations. The partners aim to optimize the technical interaction between vehicles, fast charging stations, and billing systems, as well as implement Plug&Charge functionality. All new charging stations will facilitate ad-hoc charging via commonly used credit, debit, or giro cards, ensuring compliance with Germany’s new charging station ordinance (LSV).

Additionally, E.ON and alpitronic will leverage their expertise to introduce charging solutions for heavy commercial vehicles and future megawatt charging. The partners plan to establish pilot sites with fast-charging infrastructure for trucks across various European locations by 2024. E.ON is already securing capacities from alpitronic’s upcoming production lines, specifically designed for charging heavy commercial vehicles in depots or on the road, to meet the needs of their truck customers.
